No thanks, ill stick to tyre dressing

I prefer an immaculate car not a bag of mis-matched poorly painted shite with shiny silicone sprayed wheels and plastics. ;\)

I don't know, you spend years working your fingers to the bone to save enough dosh to afford to buy and run a Coupe, then months looking at various examples across the length & breadth of the country before finding one worth buying then somebody rips it apart in one simple sentence...and I joined this forum in good faith too °\(

Only kidding - no-one mentioned MY car, t'was a joke at my own expense (forgot the wink/smiley) given that mine is resembling the patch-work quilt you describe thanks to the less-than-professional repair the bodyshop has done on the rear quarter after it's encounter with the Isuzu Trooper. (Blend line on the rear pillar sticks out like a sore-thumb now \:\( ).

I only wish a bodyshop of your caliber existed in Peterboghorror then I wouldn't have such a disheartening experience polishing 'that' part of my car now. The ink black one you've just done looks absolutely mint, I have to say. I just prefer 'shiny' tyres - not to everyone's taste though I realise ;\)

Take it back. Blend lines can be and should be sorted. Unless you paid pittence for it? Through the insurance??? Paintjobs do "drop" over time. Some we do have to be looked at after several months, just depends how it goes, carnt be avoided unfortunately. Usually a flat and polish sorts most stuff to be honest.

I always find cars with highly glossed silicone sprayed plastics, tyres and bumpers are usually the tatty ones, anything "mint" only looks such with nice satin finishes, but its all preference.

And after a 15 mile test drive with the buyer in the rain im suprised it looked as well as it did in the pics.

I'm going back tomorrow lunch-time (to pick up a rear bumper they're spraying FOC as they messed up the one on the car at the time) and I'm hoping they'll just be able to polish the blend area a bit more and sort it. It barely looks like it's been polished at all when you catch it at a certain angle as you can see the new lacquer peetering out un-evenly and what's best described as a 'ridge' at one point...trouble is I know the roof has been sprayed before and indeed the guy said the age-old "there ain't a panel that's not had paint on it at some point..." so I'm wondering if he's going to blame old/poor/faded existing paint and say there's nowt he can do?! \:\?

It was an insurance job and certainly not cheap from what I saw!

Bugger them if its on the insurance. They should get it back to how it was before.

Every car on the road has seen a paintgun a few times, no reason for bad lines.

If it had no line before or odd colours then it shouldn't now.

Well, went back to the offending bodyshop the other day to collect my new rear bumper and complain about the shocking blend-line on the rear pillar...first of all they wanted to charge me £152 for the bumper I said "fine, I'll give you the dosh for this one then you can re-spray the one on the car AGAIN and do it properly this time..."

After a bit of argy-bargy they said "OK, no charge".

So, outside to look at the rear pillar and got the expected, "that's as good as it can be done, the previous paint-job was done poorly, etc"

The guy said to go back next week when the main boss was back as he has the final say but realistically he's unlikely to disagree with his number 2.

I agree that the previous paint job isn't perfect, and indeed doesn't 'shine' as much as the areas that have just been done, but the blend just sticks out like a sore thumb. The lack of correct blending of the lacquer is one thing, but the fact that you can see a kind of slightly off-shade wiggly join line is something I'm finding hard to live with \:\(

Polished her today and just looked the other way when I got to 'that' pillar

Oh, and right down by the Pininfarina badge is orange-peel city \:mad\:

I bet they have laquered over dulling laquer then instead of doing some flatting polishing first.

Could always call the insurance the work will be warranted for a period of time.

Yep, that's my next port of call, although I just wonder if they're gonna throw the fact that I turned down 'their' approved repairer down and used one of my own choosing in my face \:\?

^^ yep, they will.

If you chose to take the car do someone they do not recommend, they cannot be held responsible for any faulty workmanship.
