Well, went back to the offending bodyshop the other day to collect my new rear bumper and complain about the shocking blend-line on the rear pillar...first of all they wanted to charge me £152 for the bumper
I said "fine, I'll give you the dosh for this one then you can re-spray the one on the car AGAIN and do it properly this time..."
After a bit of argy-bargy they said "OK, no charge".
So, outside to look at the rear pillar and got the expected, "that's as good as it can be done, the previous paint-job was done poorly, etc"
The guy said to go back next week when the main boss was back as he has the final say but realistically he's unlikely to disagree with his number 2.
I agree that the previous paint job isn't perfect, and indeed doesn't 'shine' as much as the areas that have just been done, but the blend just sticks out like a sore thumb. The lack of correct blending of the lacquer is one thing, but the fact that you can see a kind of slightly off-shade wiggly join line is something I'm finding hard to live with
Polished her today and just looked the other way when I got to 'that' pillar
Oh, and right down by the Pininfarina badge is orange-peel city
