My brake pedals spongy so i am thinking of overhauling the calipers and getting goodridge brake hoses. I have read somewhere that they have been failing on the coupes. I can get some for £61 delivered but not sure if i should get them or just renew with original ones.
Also what brake fluid are the modded coupes using, as i cooked my fluid on Saturday and don't want it to happen again.

Any advise would be much appreciated

Thanks Ash

depends on which generation they are but like any brake component when you uprate it keep an eye on it and put the doughnut rings on the new ones as well to prevent them rubbing so much..

any dot 5.1 is a good improvement but some are better than others and be prepared when you use it to flush it every 2 years or less as it takes on moisture quicker as well frown

Thanks for the quick reply kp, the goodridge code is- SFT9005-6. Not sure which generation that is, do they get rid of the horrible coupe spongy pedal. I have to press my pedal about half way down before anything happens, i bled them out twice last night to make sure the was no air in them.

they can a bit but a coop shouldnt have one to start with so get it checked out.

could be dodgey flexihose somewhere, usually one of the fronts in my experience.

You would need to quote that code to goodridge direct and see what generation they were or even if they are recalled ones...

I think even the latest generation Goodridge hoses have been withdrawn - I know Steve from Alternative Autos won't stock them.

As far as brake lines, i would go for stock. There really is not much difference with the braided ones.

brake fluid:

- Castrol SRF
- Motul RBF 600 factory line
- ATE blue racing
- AP 551 racing

TRy and hunt down some of Nigels posts re his goodridge saga, I think he's gone back to standard hoses and he's a brake killer laugh

Thanks for all your posts, i have ordered a set of normal fronts for £10 the pair smile wasn't expecting them to be as cheap as that. Going to do the rears at a later date as they have not got them in stock for a while.
Has anyone tried the mintex extreme pads in the coupe yet, just wondered what they are like as i can get them at a good price.

Thanks again for the replys.

Ash
