And it was just below full on the gauge. Last time i checked it was before i went to the last scottish meet. So probably done about 1000-1500 miles since then. Not bad eh? estimate probably about 150-200ml needed putting it to top it up!! Ross

You only check your oil every 1000 miles? Well i found checking it every 250 miles wasnt showing any difference what so ever. Also anyone who is getting an engine rebuild done, get gapped down rings. Improves power and stops blow by, hence less oil usage. Ross

Ah at least he is checking it. Unlike some. Service time is check time for most people.
Just spoke to someone on ebay who's cooler pipes burst, he drove the car with the light on to a garage, then home (22 miles) then 27 miles each way to and from work the following day. Says the engine is mint???? Although yeh it has no oil on the dipstick the whole time as whatever i poured in came straight out!
You tell me!

I check my oil+coolant levels probably every 3 or 4 days . It`s just a habit i`ve gotten into since my old Uno days when i used more oil than petrol . Baz

(have I just jinxed myself?) nah you keep parking on progressively more severe slopes every time you check your oil

(have I just jinxed myself?) Hmmm. Take it, immediately for an oil change, let them remove the 30ml of sludge and good intentions, and have them replace it with the 4.5l or whatever of the good stuff. By good stuff, I mean oil, not gliptone!!!

My old engine used to use the normal 1 litre every 1000 miles or so. But I've now got the engine from Delly's wrecked Plus plumbed in and it fantastic for oil consumption, using only around 200ml for every 1000 miles.
