Hi all,

On my way to look at a coupe tomorrow and after a day of looking through the buyers guide, the cars for sale on here, pistonheads, parkers and ebay I've come to one conclusion.....

My god but the price of these cars really vary crazy

I'm no spring chick and have owned many cars and am well aware of the old "you get what you pay for" but the coupe prices just baffle me.

So, could someone give an educated valuation on the following motor

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/145317.htm

I "think" it's reasonable but would appreciate some guidance as don't want to be paying over the odds.

Thanks

Todd

PS, all being well hope to be back tomorrow as an owner cool

Around 4k would be about right.

The prices flutter so much as there is sooo much clocked tatty half dead shite out there.

Echo the above thoughts - it looks a lovely example, obviously cherised. And a porker in the background to boot. Obviously, this guy likes his performance motors! Only downer I can see is the cloth upholstery vice black leather. Seems a very reasonable price. At the end of the day you've always got to factor in all the usual coupe downer servicing scenarios/expense like maybe having to change front wishbone's, oil cooler, clutch, turbo etc at some stage, but looks like you could do far worse than this one. Take a second set of eyes along with you if you can and at the very least the buying advice checklist off the forums. Good luck mate, looks sweet.

IMO anyone who keeps their engine that clean and has all that extra work on the interior will look after their car.

It looks a good example smile

Disregard the oil cooler ref above. Didn't read the ad carefully enough. In summary looks v v nice for the money but I'd be after a v tidy black leather interior to transplant into it eventually.

In fact, in truth examples like this make me feel sick that I didn't spent a grand or so more when I purchased a 20vt and thus avoid a huge bill to resolve issues that were present with the crock of s*it I bought. Caveat Emptor.
Hindsight being twenty twenty and all that. Good luck.

Agree with the above that car is lovely, well worth looking at. Carl will be able to sort a really nice leather interior for you if you can't stand the cloth.

Thanks all, must admit the leather is not an issue for me, I'm one of these strange folk that prefers cloth, not as cold on a winters morning and no sweaty back in the summer wink

Will this be a 6 speed box?

Sorry mate, prefer the black and unless I'm reading wrong your asking an awful lot more for a car that has a lot higher mileage but then that's what I mean about the pricing, can't get my head round it!

No offence intended there, sure your car is worth every penny but I'm from fife and we're as tight as they come ;-)

On that note ill have to add if you buy a coupe by its mileage you will have a tough life with it.

On a coupe it means nothing, they fall apart when the like, and having bought chopped sold 300 now i can honestly say most with sensible 70k+ miles on are alot lot better for it.

I'd say looking at the condition from the photos, this guy has priced to sell quickly. Not overpriced at all IMHO, in fact its a wheel, its a deal its sale of the fccu*ing century John!

As Carlt has alluded to there's alot of overpriced dogs out there.

Gutted, looks like there is someone going to see the car before me and I doubt very much it'll not go frown

I've offered the guy a deposit and full cash price tonight but he is sticking to his guns and letting the guy that called first, see it first.

Oh well, pass the kleenex

Got a MK2 mitsi GTO but that's on ebay just now and was going to buy this one cash anyway.

May be plenty of others but that one just ticked all my boxes.

Bad luck if it goes to the punter who got in before you. Will be proof that it was a very good buy. Hope you get it.
Alot of minefields buying Coops, not too many in that kind of condition around at that price tag IMHO.

Going to see the 99 tomorrow night, fingers crossed. Belongs to a women who is moving abroad and it's her 2nd coupe, quite passionate about the car which in itself a took as a good sign.

Bought it, oh happy days smile

Have to say I'm very impressed with the way it drives and handles, so much better than I would have believed.

Will post up pics and details in the appropriate section and once I've poured some TLC on it tomorrow.
