That is very true and front ended because muppets drive them to fast and rely on ABS to stop them...wrong.

That would be Burnsy and it wasn't oil, just a run of bad luck with a company doing incorrect bleeding of water, then also taking a slight turn on the motorway at some 3 figure speeds and got oil surge. Most unlucky

Was the last episode on the motorway the final for his coupe?

yeah he had 3 heads go in short succession didnt he,thats why when theres a thread on bleeding the cooling system i always try and post about correctly bleeding them to avoid past problems.luckily burnsy got his redone a few times under warrenty

currently 96k original engine on, 87k = original turbo on way out, original clutch is now just starting to slip.

Just broke 100k a couple months back, yearly trip to Powerfiat and all's good under the Coop hood!

Bought mine on 81k 4 years and 2 weeks ago :). Only real issues (touch wood) have been the dreaded manifold which was already gone when I bought it and a Turbo, which could have been avoided with hindsight :s.
Now on 125k and going to Powerfiat on Friday for some TLC and new belts.

Mines on 141k now, not sure if its original engine or not, I have done 4k in 3 months now so won't be long till it gets to 150k.
Its a 97 20vt, and is getting lots of tlc, the way its going it will be nearly a new car the way the parts need replacing

Hi begbie - long time no speak.

I ended up selling it and the car apparently continued to cause greef to the chap that bought it.

He crashed it before he even got it home and then it sprung an oil leak followed by some compression problem.

seems that the bad luck was not limited to me.

Anyway - I hope none of you have to go through what I did.

My 13 year old 3.6 911 Carrera 2 is still trudging on relentlass.......

Mine is about 108k IIRC, on original components (Forge DV/ k&N/de-cat/EVO chip added at 60k ish miles) & running very strong

On the Rover forum i frequent there are a couple of motors just nudging the 300k mile mark and still going strong! Who said British engineering was bad?

Bet they weren't K Series engines.

If you knocked the *K* off the end of the 300 I'd still be impressed at that mileage in a Rover

I had a Fiat 128 with 250000 miles with just new rings and bearings. Sold it to a lady who had it for 3 years after me with no problems!!
Mind you this is nothing compared to the Checker cab owned by a woman in New york that has done 5000000 miles, yes 5 million miles!!!
My Coupe has 108000 miles on the clock and is still going strong[touch wood].

To be fair, Rover engines seem to have less major failures than Fiats - Dare i say that after switching to Fiat! Plus when something does break its easy and cheap to fix wheras it seems to result in engine replacement in the coupe!

Honestly - british engineering is well thought out, just badly bolted together.
