Now that there's at least 10 of us that have scuff master thanks to KP's group buy, I think a thread is in order. I've yet to apply mine, and would appreciate some guidance. Perhaps this could be a useful source of info? And please, no glippy worship on this one, that's for the conditioner only \:D

Who's done their seats yet? Any tips? did it work? any before after pics? Do you leave it as is or water it down?

May have a crack at it tommorow, don't know yet.

I've got the regular sort of 50p sized scuffs on mine, one on the bolster of the driver's seat, on the scuff master web site you have the three types of scuff/scratch as follows:

TO REPAIR SCRATCHES AND MINOR CUTS: Use Scuff Master Kit, concentrated and toner if necessary, fill the scratch with dye using a tooth pick or split match, wipe off excess dye from the sides of the scratch, allow to dry, then "colour wash" if necessary (described below)

COLOUR RUB OFF AND SCUFFS: Apply Scuff Master Kit, neat after toning and dab onto the damaged area with the foam provided, repeat if necessary, then "colour wash" to blend in.

CREASES AND CRACKS: we do NOT want to fill in the cracks with dye as this will form a wedge and increase the damage. We need to recolour the brown leather that shows within the cracks. Clean the leather thoroughly with GT12, wipe out residue with a wet cloth and leave to dry. Dilute Scuff Master with 10% water and rub into cracks, leave 60 seconds and wipe off with a damp cloth: this we call "COLOUR WASHING", the dye will remain in the cracks but come off the good leather.
Leave all repairs 24 hours before conditioning with GT11. Water based Scuff Master does not attack stitching, does not dry out leather and does not smell of cellulose thinners.

from here

So, what does my one come under then? What's best to apply the scuff master with? Questions questions! Also none of us from the GB have the toning kit necessary, wonder if this will be a problem?

I managed to lift the top of the leather by superglueing something to leather (dont ask) so I ended up with a blob of leather missing. Probably the size of a pea.

First job was to clean using Glipton Cleaner.

All I then did was get a cotton bud and fill up the area with the dye. I the gently wiped away the excess and left it to dry. Seemed to do the trick, its noticable but only if you are really looking for it.

Check this thread out \:D

Scuffmastered twice to ensure good coverage as per their instructions and then gliptone loved last night and thats this mornings pictures \:\)

http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=329017&page=0#Post329017

Maker sure you wash the seats well and leave to dry and then apply the scuffmaster and was excess off after a minute or two to allow some to adhere where needed.

When you look at the pics open them all up on the thread to compare them \:\)

Makre sure you REALLY shake the bottle as well and it doesnt take much to do it \:\)

I think the only place to buy is gliptone? But I hear KP may be doing another GB in the near future...

Once im settled into the new job i may do a new GB but in 350ml portions instead as i can use lucazade bottles then and they are much stronger than any of the cheapy bottles i can find which are very thin \:\(
This would be in about a months time.

You could buy from ebay i guess but i have heard the quality of gliptone is iffy but i have a theory..

When you leave some gliptone in the bottle for say a week or two, ie a cars worth in the 5 litre bottle it has like a cream affect and goes to a milky and creamy substance. ie it goes very thin and globby. As my stuff was fresh and made the day before i bottled it into the smaller bottles and sent out within a week it should be much better. Id still reccomend that you squeeze a good chunk of air out of the bottle before resealing it with the lid and shaking it a lot before use \:\)

Pity it doesnt warn you on the bottle to best used within so many days of opening \:\(

Well, not happening at the mo Tried to use a toothbrush to rub in the dye to the scuff, then left it a minute as per the instructions, before wiping off. All the dye came with it, leaving it same as before \:\(
I've now just applied a big blob of it on top of the scuff, I'll leave it to sink in for 20 mins, then wipe off.

How did you apply the stuff plebs? foam or a cotton cloth?

I had a similar experience Pinin. I brushed/dabbed mine on, left it to dry and then wiped it off...all of it!!

I had another go and it has filled/hidden various other cracks/creases and looks ok, but the really bad scuff has only a very minor, if any, improvement.

I'll have another go soon, after I read some more on others results and methods. \:\)

I've got some pics for my how-to at least, I've attempted one small scuff, it looks a mess at the moment tho So I'll leave it 24 hours, give it a good bit of the glippy conditioner and review if it's been succesful. Not going to publish a how-to on here if it only messes up your seats, wouldn't make me many friends \:D

So what was the most effective method of applying the stuff? what did you use to apply? Did the leather feel like cardboard after you'd applied it

I just applied it neat too, working it in quickly with a cloth. Worked really well and dried in minutes. Will apply a layer of conditioner in the morning.

I used the small brush that came wth my elecric shaver to apply it and then left it about 5 mins while i did other bits on the seats and then went back to the start and cleaned of with a quite damp cloth. It does go like cardboard but then you gliptone, give a few hours and then apply a thick generous coat for an overnight soaking and then leave them to do their magic \:D

Need to do some more glippy on my repairy jobbies but they are going in the coupe for mini pleb to abuse and for my new work kit to abuse and then for the meet ill swap back to my gorgeous set \:#
