After some delays, largely relating to trying to find an upholsterer who didn't expect me to sell the car to pay for their services , I finally collected my install today freshly trimmed in finest Italian hide...

Really pleased with how it looks (front panel isn't properly fixed in photos) and how, at my request, the guy added lots of stitching to match the seats...opening the boot after just 20 mins bringing it home earlier I also got a huge waft of leather scent \:#

Guess what I'll be doing first thing Saturday morning??!!

With that lot in the boot your handling should be improved with the 50 / 50 weight distribution! \:D

Seriously though, that looks and should sound \:\/

Nice one. \:\)

Well, after a day of hard work in the sunshine she's all in...charged up the power-cap & powered her up tonight with just the sub amp (top one) connected and all seems well (and LOUD!!), next is proper fitting of the front trim panel (not fixed properly in photo's below) then fitting/connection of front speakers (Genesis of course!).

Here's how my boot now looks. I'm pretty chuffed with the result

The carpet floor at the 'front' of the boot still hinges up as normal allowing access to the spare wheel, only slight complication is that I will have to carry a suitably sized allen key to remove the plastic trim on the front edge of the boot but then the spare wheel can be slid out fairly easily \:\)

Diagrams? Hmmm, will put some thought to that one, shouldn't be too difficult to do when I get some time.

No - rear speakers will be disconnected and I've got a Genesis (yes, really) Audiophile 6.5 inch mid-bass & tweeter component set for the front doors/dash. I stopped short of opting for the £2,200 Genesis "Absolute" set...although if some crop up on Fleabay who knows... \:P

Why thank you \:\) I've always done full installs for my cars and spent a couple of years as a teenager working as a fitter in a local car stereo shop so I guess I've picked up a fair bit through trial and experience!

Built in my back garden by yours truly and I'd guess at around £250 including the MDF, foam, leather, trimming plus other bits and pieces. Then the cost of the Genesis equipment on top of that of course which cost, um, a couple of quid

I am thinking of making a blue-print of all the cut pieces of MDF used to provide for other people or indeed supplying the install as a kind-of self-assembly kit so watch this space!

Disaster strikes! \:\(

Used the car for the first time today and half-way to work one of the subs stopped producing sound...I suspected the top amp (4 channel bridged on both sides to make 2 channels, one to drive each sub) so I emailed Genesis today and they do offer a repair & re-polishing service for £84.50 including VAT & return postage (not bad?) and having just got home, whipped it out & tested it half of the amp is indeed dead °\( I'd better get parcelling it up and sent off to Saarrfend-on-Sea...

Sorry to hear that mate, install looks sweet,Are the amps not under warrenty then mate?? why do you have to pay to get it repaired,? I have had Rockford Fosgate and directed both replacde or repair for free amps and subs that have blown? as long as in there test they are manufacture defect not just the customer having it to high or low...

Amp is about 8 years old and has been in my Uno, Punto and now Coupe so is well out of warranty. It went back to Genesis in 2004 for a 'service' and health check and was OK then, so it will be interesting to see what's happened on this occasion. It's being used in 4 ohm bridged format in the Coupe so not exactly having to work hard \:\?
