350bhp @ the flywheel

Very pleased \:\)

Squid.
I dont want to be a doubter of your power figures, but they do not add up. According to them, your @the wheel power figure is less then 8% lose, which is impossible. Something not right there \:\?

PT's rollers tend to have a low power loss Andy.

Just reporting what Perfect Touch gave me on their graphs! They told me that it was the most impressive results they had seen on a Coupe with those mods, and they have worked on quite a few now.

Their Dyno is very conservative and does not report "pub figures". I mentioned that the gearbox losses were quite low, but they said they are the most accurate as they are the ones the machine measures. If anything is likely to be wrong it is the flywheel figure which they told me would be MUCH higher if I took it to somewhere like Powerstation.

The bottom line is that the car is now really impressive. I really recommend Claudio and Rob at Perfect Touch (01992 443900). They really know their stuff, and are really helpfull. I had a few problems on Saturday and they sorted these out evan though they close early on Saturdays.

I'll do a full write up tonight or tomorrow, when I have time, but yes it is now a monster!

I heartily recommend Perfect Touch!

Live maps are £450+VAT IIRC.

Squid - if your Aquamist runs dry, how does the live map deal with this? On unichipped cars we can use the base ignition map to revert to when there is no flow.

I have the 2d system with the DDS3 you supplied (thanks) since the setup is using the standard Bosch ECU but with a lot of the parameters changed for the mods it should be OK. Also, the whole setup is much "safer" as the standard ECU is much better at controlling the engine.

However, I can tell you that I would never try booting the car if the Aquamist was empty or not running! At least the DDS3 should let me know if something is wrong.

You are in the right ballpark with the cost of the live map. It's not cheap, but it is the best way to get the car set up.

Throw away those unichips, live mapping is the way forward!

I want to oganise a Herts meet soon as Joe is eager to have a play in my car. He had a go in the car laast week before it was mapped, so it should be interesting to see what he thinks.....

Joe does not have the paddle clutch yet, but I do \:\)

I'm really pleased with that, holds the power really well. However, there really is little alternative once you start pushing out over 300hp at the wheels. It takes a little while to get used to bit I really like it now. Very expensive though \:o

Great stuff Squid, that's a fantastic result for an RS \:\) Is it a 0.64 or 0.86 turbine housing? How do you find the clutch i.e. fairly light and not too snatchy except perhaps in first?

Excellent results there Richard,..she felt pretty lively last week when I had a go then!! \:D

Our setups are very similar now Richard, save that I'm running the Unichip with C+B cams, so would be good to give it a drive again

Ken, I've decided to go for the paddle clutch after having a drive of Richards one, its a LOT better than the Walkers paddle clutch that I had before.
On driving, and slipping the clutch from a standstill , there was a perceptible judder, but you had to 'feel' for it, and certainly on the move there is no noticeable judder \:\)
The clutch is still a paddle clutch so it is more abrupt than standard, but it certainly grips!

On reversing , the clutch felt fine to use with a light postive pedal action.

I also thought the quick shift was pretty good, so my car is booked at Barbz in the next few weeks for the lot,..fingers crossed now!!!!!

I hope your not pushing into the Barbz queue.... \:\/

Flea,

The paddle clutch is great. It's the one from Marcus's car. It took a few days to get used to but it is very good. Doc is right about the judder in first, but it is nothing too serious. It holds the power perfectly which would be impossible on the old (EVO) clutch.

Claudio and Rob at Perfect Touch were really surprised at the power the car produced considering it has standard internals.

The turbo is a .64 GT28RS. It has very little lag which is just what I was aiming for.

Long life 2.25" stainless with decat, and a 2.25" downpipe. Roger @Powerfiat said the most restrictive part of my setup was the downpipe, but when I had the turbo fitted, there was a huge wait for the 3" ones. Also they are very expensive and I was running out of cash and time....

The exhuaust sounds very good though.

Your Apexi looks like you need to increase the duty as you are getting a see-saw effect as the solenoid can't quite find the right boost level.

I never know what to set the duty to on the Apexi, what do you suggest, just increase it a bit?

Also might need to decrease it aswell flea. Sometimes too much can cause that aswell.

It's a bit different on the Apexi especially with the learn mode. For 1.35 bar I reckon you'll be looking at about 65% although you should be able to feel (and see on your boost gauge) whether it is fluctuating. It could be something else that's causig the fluctuations.
