With the Blitz generally if you increase the duty too much then you get the see saw effect.

Richard, you need to sort out ur boost controller so you can get a smooth (flatter) torque curve..blitz or apexi??

Also your exhaust is a 2.5" downpipe back!! \:D

2.5" DP with 2.25" exhaust - excellent! I presume you don't have a v-band/adaptor?

Mark,

Thanks for the info on the exhaust!

I'll have a play with the Apexi settings next week after I have had the belts changed. I'm getting Barbs to fit the belt cover and change all the belts. I'm feeling nervous after the car shredded a fan belt on Saturday whilst at Perfect Touch. I was so it did not get tangled up in the timing belt, I think I would just cry if that happened °\(

Claudio told me they had one Coupe recently that threw a timing belt on the final power run and destroyed the engine on the dyno.

\:o \:o It has happened more than once to them as well!!

It is a very serious consideration. Only a couple of years ago, Barbz 2-litre machines were *only* running 350bhp, but now there are a lot more, but there are still only a handful of coupes running 350bhp and beyond.

I can only think of 6 or 7 coupes including yours and mine running at this sort of level, and a lot of them have thrown belts!

So, I'm going to get mine changed as well, I think this is now a prerequisite for running beyond 350bhp

Joe

I thought that he was talking about me, but i had an aux belt let go which took out the cambelt.

I can't believe you had a belt let go as well.

This is quite interesting. As its only Perfect Touch cars that are throwing belts.

So its either one of 2 things.

1. they way they are configuring power delivery and the wasy they are actually tuning the car.

2. the figures they are producing are absolutely correct and hence are achieving a higher level of tune.

Ross, its worth noting that these high power coupes are also throwing belts on the road, so that would point to the rolling road not being a big factor in this.

The belt was shredded on the road during a rather 'enthusiastic' test drive, not on Perfect Touch's dyno. Obviously on their private test track and not on the public road ;\)

Claudio said I was very lucky. He replaced the belt for me and did a full inspection of the other belts and pulleys etc. He recommended that I get them all changed and have the guard fitted ASAP.

As Joe said, these cars are now producing far more than stock power, but we are still using stock belts and pulleys etc. The Coupe is known for having belt problems with stock power levels, so you have to be careful.....

Ken,

What damage did that do to your engine?

Claudio also showed me a piston with a big hole melted in the top, dur to the electrode falling out of a Denso Irridium plug. He said it is a common problem and they advise people to remove them and fit other plugs before running on the dyno.

Twenty bent valves. \:\(

I think it has something to do with hitting the limiter. That could dislodge the aux belt if it hasn't been tightened up recently.

Could you find the remains of your aux belt? If so was it a clean shear or was some of it still on the pulley's?

Ouch, that sounds nasty. Perhaps that was the story Claudio was telling me. Who did all the repair work? Is it back together now?

We did have a look the old belt and it seemed to be particularly worn on one side. The old belt had not broken in half but had been frayed and shredded. we had a look at the engine and it looked like it had been rubbing against the lower part of the engine casing, I don't know what it is called. Claudio said it can be moved back, which is what Barbs is going to do next week when he changes the belts.

I think I have used up all my good luck now, so I'm being carefull until it has all been checked out.
