Hi all,
Well as you may have seen by earlier post Coupe is back so needs to be polished and cared for.
Was wanting some advice on a few things, had a look through cleanyourcar.co.uk and saw wax, sealant and polish etc then on some old threads. What is the difference with these three?
Should I use clay on new paintwork?
Can anyone reccomend some good polish, as I don't need to do any cutting etc as its new. Am hoping to do it today so any help would be appreciated!

I'd suggest you just want some sealant on it to protect your new paintwork. Probably...

It has been two weeks so think that policy still exists stan He said polish it which is not very helpful really when I think about it Was thinking some auto glym super resin polish which is little polish and some sealant This should not be so difficult! Anyone know about the clay bar?

It wont need clayed. Clay is just to lift contaminants off the surface but you wont have any so it'll be a waste of time.

There shouldn't be a need to clay it yet. I would use sonus paint cleaner and then sfx3 final finish polish.

The Paint cleaner looks good but two types of polish? All these choices Think I will use the autoglym and get one polish and one wax/sealant I do like the paint cleaner though, thanks

Paint has been left for just over two weeks so should be good now. Saw John yesterday and he cleaned up a few odd bits here and there. Car has done around 1k since so it needs a little clean. Okay Pinin have seen the ammount you do to clean your car and I think I am about as perfectionist as you wil try some Chemical Guys & Collinite That shoud be okay ?

I normally wouldn't contemplate spending money on all these fancy branded "choice of the proffesionals" cleaning/polishing products. I tend to think you're basically paying a huge premium for the marketing of the product and I have my doubts that I would notice a 15 fold improvement in the shine I get with cheapest products I can find. At the recent Italian Car club Meet in Cultra I had quite a few people asking me about the products I used to get the finish both inside and outside my car. It is as Darmtb put it very shiney. My secret... Tesco's own brand car care products...As it says on their tins "compare this to the leading brand", and having used most - Auto Glym, Mer, Son Of A Gun, Raindance etc etc, Its a fraction of the price and is at least as good. It was interesting watching their faces drop when I said Tescos Own. As someone who will happily spend all weekend cleaning and polishing my car, and not be able to resist another 3 or 4 hours during the week giving it another wee going over do you guys think I would notice much of a difference if I used some of those expensive waxes?????Coz I am tempted but would be majorly peed off if I didn't see much of a difference...on similar note cant source that clay block stuff locally, some of the auto parts places I tried didn't even seem to know what I was talking about, and others thought it so specialist they didn't know where I'd get it??? Don't like purchasing online but looks like I'll have to on this occassion.

The clay bar is a very good item. The megs kit is one of the best options, you get, detailing spray (acts as lube) 2 clay bars and a microfibre. May not make a visible difference to the finish, but does alot for the smoothness of the paint. As for the expensive waxes I have a few, ranging from £15 to £120 and the only difference I can see is durability. But I have only used this on light colour cars and apparently the more expensive waxes really come alive on darker colours.

Having a silver/grey coupe I'll prob give the expensive waxes a miss then, besides I enjoy polishing car anyway so durability not really an issue. Clay bar though I am gonna get if only to satisfy my own curiousity

Get some polishing compound slap it on, and spend a good hour round it. Polish never harms anyone, and if the respray was done at a good place they would have polished it after the respray, as it is imperitive to remove the solvents used in the paint.
