Hi,

The head unit which was with my car when I bought it has suddenly decided to stop working. I don't really care whats up with it as my intentions were always to get a new one. But, I haven't got the keys to remove it...so....how do I get it out? lol.

I'm sorry if this is a total newb question, but I'm a newb. smile

Cheers.
Vin.

Buy a new one with fitting and get the fitter to get it out wink Have you looked in basic FAQs or the how to guides - may be something there

I stuck a knife down the side and pushed it out from the back by pulling away the carpet slightly on the side of the centre console in the passenger footwell

I don't think this is the standard Clarion Head Unit if it's Coopsterlee's old motor. confused

You may want to consider getting free fitting on a new unit or putting up the make and model of what's in now and see if anyone can advise. smile

If you do not want to damage the centre console then my advice is to remove the console and then take the stereo out.

I have removed many Clarion units and they have all been a pain, the knife trick worked once but the next time I just shed blood cry Using the proper Clarion toll was bloody useless too rolleyes

Plenty of info on removeing the console here

John

If it's the Clarion then I'll post you the removal tools as long as you post them back tongue

Should only be a few pennies in the post...but at least you'll be able to get it out with minmum fuss.

Say, wouldn't it a great idea if there was a central pool of handy tools and bits and bobs which paid up members would be able to borrow from time to time?

Lol, I forgot I made this thread.
Well anyway I managed to get it out, and in doing so...pulled the centre console out (which wasn't screwed in!).

All sorted though, cheers smile
