Hello again,
Following on from my thread the other day about my dilemma, I think I tempted fate by saying it appeared my Coupe was mechanically sound.
So there I was waiting for a mate outside his house, cars idling, notice smoke pouring out of exhaust etc etc, fine when I drove off (after leaving a smoke screen)
Anyway the point of this is, theres a warranty on my car, which has a maximum claim limit of £750. Anyone any expieriences with warranties and coupes? What are the chances of me being able to get a "Hybrid" turbo replacment? Do you reckon I could get a garage to buy a Hybrid Turbo then to fit it all for £750? Or would the warranty expect an identical replacment and a brand new one at that (How much is a brand new standard turbo?)
I'm not really clued up on this, but reading through the warranty last night it seems pretty strict, i.e. they wouldnt replace a radiator through corrosion etc, it would have to mechanically fail etc! (How else do radiators fail!?!)
Cheers
Ben
p.s. its a Motorcare warranty BTW

Isnt the seals a £99 job, plus the cost of removing/re-fitting turbo.
Could it not be 'wear & tear' also?

Worth a phone call but I've just tried and failed on a similar claim with a warranty that came with my car from the previous owner. I was claiming that a bearing had failed in the turbo causing the seals to go and making the turbo smoke but this was classed (as mentioned above) as "wear and tear" and not covered.
Even though "wear and tear" was covered by my policy (warrantywise) they claimed that it only covered "complete failure due to wear and tear" and as my turbo was still working then it hadn't failed.
Try it anyway, I think you'd need an official quote to make a claim but the policy I had made provision for me installing more expensive parts than standard and just paying the difference.
To be fair I was only trying it on as my turbo only smokes if idling for a considerable amount of time but the warranty runs out in August.
