The electric window is a constant live (when ignition is on) or if you only want a light-switched source take it from the lamps behind the centre console.
Edit: always stick an inline fuse in!

Mine has 3, both switched and perm went to my 12+ from the windows and the neg went to an earth around the fuse area.
It all depends whether you want it lit up all the time or not.

The fuse isn't essential, just good practice Is your gauge a digital readout?

As you want it permanently lit up, try ignoring one of the live wires or you may have to join the two lives together. I dont think you want to take it from the dimmer switch as I think that is only activated with the lights (not sure though). Probably the easiest thing is to take the feed from the window switch then have a play with the two wires and see what happens!
