Righty, not personally seen it for a while, since i chopped up Micah's old coupe anyway.

But this is the 3rd this month alone. Meta alarm malfunction

Basically this is now the 3rd, ive not been looking at buying any 16v's all year till now but now i have this seems to be a current killer.

Ive personally come across it on cars we have bought in only a few times but it seems the alarm module located under the nearside wing is shorting out.

Usual symptoms are:
Alarm playing up.
Car not starting code light on and nothing budging it.
Any odd electrical behavior relating to alarm, central locking or immobilizer.

If you keep trying to start the car it will short out and light up \:\( (like fiat did, when they said Micah's car wouldn't start because of no red key)

Any sign of an alarm or locking issue and i'd really advise disconnecting the alarm.

Seems a shame to burn out a 53k 2 owner car even if it is a RED 16v \:\(

Blummin 'eck! I'm glad my car came with a knackered alarm fob, as i decided to get a new aftermarket alarm installed instead of attempting the fix!

Having a coupe destroyed beacause of a faulty alarm is such a shame! \:\(

Thanks Carl, my alarm has been going off for no apparent reason, so I've got it switched off.

I guess it will be a good idea to disconnect it and replace it with an after market unit.

How well buried in the wing is it?

Pete

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Its only a wing off job, but there is a harness running to it that should knock it off. Found to the right of the strut.

That will be this one then.

Pull out the brown part in the centre to unlock it.
