the apexi is very good, and very small although doesnt seem to lose out because of that. The K&N is also excellent but it's huge

Has anyone tried to stuff the airbox onto the sip (modified to increase the funnel diameter and remove the s bend)?

Will it fit, bearing in mind that the SIP moves about a bit with the engine. My K&N cone only just squeezes in there and rubs against the framework.

goose i got my apexi filter off e-bay, there was an article going around with a filter comparrison in whch the apexi came out top on both filtration and power gains.
I'm happy with mine!
i got mine off jdm-trade on ebay it cost around £60 in total, including the required adapter which is very cheap! He's still selling them too.

The K&N isnt that big, unless the people I've seen have the wrong one on their car. I've got the ramiar one, now it is a decent size. in fact it would fit a lot better if the SIP was a bit longer, or there was a bit of an extension added to the fitting (if thats possible)

I wonder what difference the size and shape of these intakes really makes,
I remember a post on another forum a while back saying that an engine might have difficulty sucking air in from the turbulence under an engine bay of a car doing over 100mph. It’s got me thinking. With just how much force does an engine suck the air in? You stick you head out of a sunroof at 120mph and try sucking air in lol. I know an engine has probably got a ‘little’ more oomph than my lungs but this must be a factor that gets worse with speed.
I wonder if the air intake would get more air if it pointed directly forwards with a funnel directing air directly into it? I suppose you would get tonnes of dust and particles clogging it then though…
F****** b****** thing...

I'm not sure it would make much difference Trappy. When the Turbo spools up it sucks air pretty strongly no matter which direction it's blowing through the engine bay. Although perhaps the turbo would have to work less hard to achieve the same boost pressure if what youre saying is true? under 3000rpm youre not going fast enough for it to have a significant effect, unless maybe in 5th/6th at 2500rpm, or youre against a strong gale...
