Hello,
Despite only having my coupe since December last year I've decided I cant justify spending anymore on it. I think I've been fairly unlucky with it but anyway thats a different story!
Anyway, a while ago I posted about how it was crappy bodywork wise and OK mechanically - famous last words!
I'm thinking of trading it in now so was wondering what I could expect (ball park figures)
So
1997 R Reg Sprint Blue 102000 miles
Good bits:
Holds about 2.1 bar on warm idle 2.2 years warranty left (dont know if its transferable) Thermostat replaced Front brake hoses replaced Full Service History Cambelt + Full service at 96000 by Paul at motormech DV006 dump valve HPI Clear (means nothing....) Front end totally original
Bad Bits:
Turbo about to die (replaced my smoking one, with one that smokes less! It was a gamble) Turbo Dynamics have my spare one, it will cost £320 to get it refurbed.
Clutch looks like its about to die as well, after a spirited run on Friday, the biting point appears to have moved within 25mm of the top of the pedal travel!
Wishbones need replacing (Paul@motormech recommended)
Front solid brake pipe needs replacing, I will do this at some point.
Doors dont match the car (CarlT replaced my passenger one as the rust at the bottom of it was annoying me)
Rear passenger quarter has been repaired and sprayed at some point
Interior is OK
Thats about it, I'm hoping for £1750 trade in? What do people think? Probably get more breaking it!
Cheers
Ben

I'm not sure it would sell easily to a private seller with the turbo and clutch both needing to be done. Unless the bodywork really is bad it would seem a shame to break it, although the engine block sounds healthy you could get a nice wad of cash money for that...

Fancy a p/x on my silver LE or the porto? Carl, I'm seriously tempted to be honest. Is the silver LE ready?

OK sorry to dredge this thread from the depths, but as of yesterday I handed my noticed in at work. This means my daily commute has now increased to 60 miles (in 4 weeks time) and a lot of time sitting on the M6 I expect.
Hopefully I've got a Peugeot 306 DT on the way in a few weeks for this commute. However I'm still toying with the idea of getting a LE. Dont ask me why as I'm happy with mine as it is, I just love LE's!
So with regards to the first post this is all the work I've had done on it upto today:
Full service at Motormech, Belts, oil filter etc Front brake hoses replaced Solid Front brake lines replaced Handbrake cables replaced Reconned standard turbo from Turbo Dynamics (5 months or warranty left) Uncracked manifold fitted (later version, as it stands its still uncracked!) DV006 dump valve (Still have original) Wishbones replaced by Motormech Second hand oil cooler (was in good condition, all surface rust removed and hammerited) Just replaced all spark plugs Oil + Filter changed 2000 miles ago when I did Turbo and manifold Air con compressor will be replaced this weekend (stupid annoying squeak on tickover) Turbo Water feed pipe (new) Headertank to block waterpipe (CarlT) 3 Month old radiator (JohnnyBravoTurbo)
And thats it! Only two things I think it could possibly need doing in the future are tracking (will get this done anyway) and possibly the clutch, it has a high biting point but doesnt slip.
So if anyone could give me a ballpark figure I'd be interested.

Cheers Vickster. I forgot to add to the orignal ad, that I had been to a couple of garages enquiring about part exchanges (On a Vauxhall astra, I know I'm going to hell!) His exact words were "Hmmmmmmmm bit of a bogey car! I dont know what I'd do with it. I'd love to drive one though" And then he said, I'll give you £1500. I walked away mainly because of it being a Green Astra Coupe! Ben

Coupes have always been a nightmare to px. I got offered 6k for my old Coupe back in 2001 against a Peugeot 406 Estate.
