Ive had a cat-back supersprint exhaust for about 3 weeks now, love the way it looks.
Now this is the problem, I wanted a subtle sound and thats what I got, almost to subtle, almost standard sounding.
Could or would just a k&n REPLACMENT PANEL filter give it just a bit more grunt or would I have to go for an INDUCTION KIT.
Performance wise doesnt bother me, I know its not exactly going to do much anyway, even if I was bothered about that, its more the sound, but dont want like a great big hoovering sound, just a bit more grunt....
Many thanks in advance everyone!

Dont really want to de-cat it, ive heard thats pretty loud like that, plus I have a standard turbo and heard that , that will shorten the life span of my turbo.

Drive it a bit faster \:P Supersprint sounds nice at full chat and (like me) it gets better (and louder)with age.

Till one day it falls apart and dies (this threads made me sad now) °\(

Supersprint should sound much better than standard, as it drops the centre box and has a more resonant tone. As suggested above, decat makes it sound \:# , otherwise you could go for a sport-cat and free up the flow a little. Can't imagine that a panel filter is going to make any difference to the exhaust note ;\) .

Whats the difference between a de-cat and a sports-cat, and considering ive got a standard turbo, do you get the same problems for the turbo from a sports-cat than you would with a de-cat?
Sorry for all the questions, but im trying to learn here, and many thanks too...

well my coupe was fitted with the supersprint about 5/6 years ago plus de-cat, edz who i bought it replaced the decat with a cat but i ran it from about feb last year with a decat until the brackets gave up the ghost this year, it is now running a custom 3" stainless system with 3" decat and still on the original turbo, now at 112k!!
i get the odd puff of smoke but by god and touch wood it doesn't really use any oil, can't remember when i had to top it up last to be honest!!
now i've said that you'll probably see a post from me wanting a new turbo soon!!!

Race cats flow more gasa than a standard cat. i.e they are not as restrictive. and *I think* are legal and will pass the MOT test.

They also cost more I guess, No Idea on prices though. \:\)

two different types of race cats (100 and 200 hole/cell ones)
One passes through MOT other fails (not sure which one is that though!)
Prices could be anything over 300-400euromoney (so what 200-250quid?)

Do you actually get side of the road emissions tests by the police up there?

I have a Miltek race/sports cat, noticed the difference instantly when fitted, revs more freely.
I also have a supersprint cat back which is in no way to loud but screams nicely when you push the car, the miltek cat made the supersprint sound better!

Cheers
John

like i say mine has been run for ages and ages with a decat and is still on the original turbo at 112k, just a small amount of smoke very occasionally.

no what i mean is a few people say not to decat on a standard turbo because is kills it , but ive done this on every turbo ive had and never had any trouble ,
and it does make a difference to the tone of the exhaust, makes it sound a little deeper i think
