Hi again, right then I have discounted the idea of induction kit due to the fact I will lose bottom end torque. So hows about a new back box?? I see they can be fitted straight on to exsisting centre pipe. Few questions.

1) Im looking for a bit of sound, not boy racer type, just a nice bit of grunt, does back box give this? (dont want HUGE big pipe either!!)
2) Are they that easy to fit??
3) Do they improve performance at all?
4) Which one? And where from?

Thanks in advance, JIm

there are quite a few out there, miltek, scorpion, peco, supersprint.....
it depends if you want mild steel or stainless too. if you are keeping your coupe long term then maybe stainless would be a good option.
the tail pipes on some are limited but peco offer 3" and 4" if i'm not mistaken, scorpion is 4" i think and supersprint is about a 3 1/2" slash cut, not sure on the miltek.
some people complain when they fit a back box alone they cannot hear the difference.
a friend has a peco stainless with three inch tailpipe fitted, he drove past the other day and it sounded subtly nice, but personally the tailpipe is too small me thinks.
myself, i've had a supersprint, with intermediate pipe with and without a de-cat and it sounded nice now i have a three inch custom system with three inch de-cat and four inch tailpipe, wouldn't be without it now!!!!
try and go to a meet and hear a few different exhaust until one catched your ear, i don't think you will notice that much power gain from a back box alone though.

i fitted a universal backbox to mine jap style with a 4" tail,no difference in sound apart from it sounding $hit as it had to have all sorts welded on to get it to fit

buying a backbox alone will not make much difference as your car will still have the centre box.

my advice to you is save your pennies for a full cat back which will ditch the centre box.

i have a peco will a 4 " tail which sounds just right at costs 233 quid.
