Hi there, Just thought my sills / front and back piece of bumper would look better the same colour as my car (yellow) Is this easy to do? Do i need to prime first? Brush or spray? Where do i get paint/spray from? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

On my coupe the previous owner painted the sills and realy done a bad job (on broom yellow painted black sills)

He/she hand painted them and now the paint is wearing pretty thin and it is looking slightly dodgy.

I strongley recommend a pro job if you want them done.

Any way back to me (sorry for high jacking the post, I need to touch up the previous owners blemishes, what type of paint do you recommend?

Have walked around Helfrauds and there are loads to choose from, the only area that needs attention are the sills under the doors ?

Can be done DIY. Did mine myself.... but had a spray gun and compressor plus a Dad overwatching me. Savd loads of money and came out really nice. The preperation/masking is the main thing.

If you've never had any experience sparaying, best paying to get it done.

Well I did mine with a spray can from Halfords and they look OK. Mind you, the sills did seem to have a paint problem from the stoneguard and I have now covered them with LE skirts anyway .

Having said that, I would still recommend a good bodyshop to get a proper job (I'm just a cheapskate !)

They looked okay phil. whoever painted my sills should be led out into the streets and shot. absolutely cack job and overspray everywhere. My 4 year old nephew is a better painter.

I noticed that the black stoneguard stuff on my car had blue specks on it the other day. Turns out it has been applied over blue paint... Is this normal?

They were body colour originally then painted black to give the visual effect of a sleeker looking (less high) car, a common trick from the past (my old Fiat Dino Coupe 2400 was the same). On later cars they kept the bosy colour.

Ive now got to the point where i think ill start removing the after market kits and going back to the black sills and bumpers.

Im bored of all the pre-painted badly fitted skirts with all the gaps and crooked fits, they spoil the cars.

There's something about the look of them with the black bits i prefer.

Think the cars look alot cleaner and straighter like it.

I think alot of people will got the same way, originality will come back.

I know a guy who will do it for about £150. Including prep, undercoat, paint and lacquer. You'll have to travel to Spalding for that though. The job seems fine to me been on there about a year so far and no issues yet...

Dooooh, just read above post,maybe a trip to spalding it is then, I will ring around a few bodyshops round here, would they get an exact colour match?

Well he matched Portofino Blue when I gave him the colour code and matched my bronze wheels by eye very well. (though I notice he did this under white light as the colour of my bronze decals varies depending on sunlight and reflection, put parked up in a petrol station it looks perfect all round. Dunno what you could do about that!)

All the decals and sills cost me £250, so probably around £150 for just the sills.

btw, the go faster stripes are patented!
