Hi all,

Been a bit busy recently - holidays and work etc. Recently having driven my woman's Alfa 159 (with whoop ass) xennon lights - I have come to the conclusion that I also need /want some in the coupe. Not only for better vision - but also to scare everyone in the fast lane as I approach (mainly in Germany where I can slip it in six and not get grief). laugh

Heres the catch - to have them in the coupe here in switzerland they must;

A) Be self adjusting upon starting up correction tilting
B) have washer jets in front of them.

point B) I am designing a slight recess in the bonnet (similar to the location on the plus version) but mine will be slightly countersunk into the bonnet (when planned respray and debadge is done.

Main problem is the automatic self correcting / adjusting internals of the xennon's (this is the pain in the arse). as I am having issues trying to work out how this will work ??

any one got any Ideas - This is a must if I want Xennon's - and I want xennon's real bad !!!! crazy

It is also a requirement of the UK mot but do no know of anyone who has bothered. Just swap back to normal bulbs come MOT time. Or leave them in and see if they spot them laugh Sounds like it would be an expensive project to get right frown

Luckily, in the Netherlands (Where I live...) you can put Xenon in your car without all that nonsense. You only need the washing and auto-adjusting stuff on cars newer than januari 2007 and on new cars.

To find out how the auto-adjusting stuff works I would go and take apart a headlight from a car with that installed. There must be someone who totalled one of these...

The guy that MOT's my coupe noticed the HID's, and said a few of his friends had fitted them. Didn't seem to be an issue at all for the test...

Paddy - I totally agree - however if the "5-O" decide to stop me (which is alway possible) As I am one of very few (RHD) cars here in Switzerland - I then need to prove to them that;

A) the car is road legal - (Which it is)
B) that I have all the documentation for the "non std" bits
brakes cadamuro grill boost gauge etc.

It becomes a real pain in the arse.........
thats why I hoped that it was possible (or that some one out there) may have already done it. (seems I might have to just do the washer jets into the bonnet (malarky) and just slip the xennon's in and (just play dumb)

only trouble is that - Having seen and assisted "CrazyCoop" put her's in I know that there is a fair amount of "Making it fit) which is the only concearn - if and when I need to put it back to standard.

double pants ......

CrazyCoop - do your lights tilt or not ?? for fear of breaking the bulbs?

I know this may be quite a job to do, but the best place for the ballasts would be within the light units. I have a apare pair of lights and intend to try this over the winter. Would them look OE.

Here's the MOT regulations for the UK. Nothing that HIDs would had problems with I dont think. Mine passed a couple of weeks ago without any problem.

Jap - Sedici,

Do your lights "Still" to the tilting thing from the roller switch mounted within the dash on the right hand side ??

I think this was one concearn from CrazyCoop as she mentioned that the Xennon bulbs were longer and was worried about the fact that the tilt might "snap" the bulbs ??

As this little feature would be good to have "still available" if u get me ?

The bulbs will not snap if using the headlight adjuster. Plenty of room. Mine still work too, but do occasionally go crazy tilting up and down on their own accord so I removed the wire once they were on the highest setting.

I have come to the conclusion that I'll stick a set in. with minimal cutting drilling etc. and when the time comes when I get the comments you can't have them in because of bla bla bla - Then I'll do the "bla bla bla" and get them approved and "legal"

however I am awaiting feedback to an inquiry I made on a thread under the group buy section.

Hopefully it is still possible to obtain a set.

Ahh Cappo - If only Switzerland was part of the EU chap ?? - Life would be SO MUCH EASIER.

As a good old song goes

"Can't Beat the system - Go with the Flow"

Can't beat it but might be able to BEND the rules a little

muhahahahahahaha
