just got a notice of intended prosecution through the door..72mph in a 60 zone! argh. its was a mobile camera in a gateway at the end of a loong open clear stretch of road! i think this is so unfair. the road is big enough to be a d/c!! no other cars around and clear dry road. you can hardly say it was dangerous! i cant believe it! any experience/advice from anyone would be appreciated! \:\(

Was it sent recorded delivery? Any pic included of your car?

So, you were going faster than the speed limit and you got caught, which bit was unfair?

i dont mean unfair as such, i just mean they could have placed the camera somewhere where the roads actually dangerous! dont think it was recorded delivery and no pics included.

Did you sign for it ? If not i would just ignore.

They will send another reminder after that. Just ignore again. I believe if they dont send it recorded delivery, they cant prove them served you within 14 days. After that time u cant be expected to remember who was driving the car.

2 of my mates have done it and although the police were trying to persue they didnt do more than a few letters.

I don't think they're saying it's specifically dangerous anymore than any other road that has a 60 limit.

Take it like a man \:D

PS @ Ross ... huh? \:D

Was it around Brackley by-pass ?, you get a few around there.
Don't worry about it if it's going to be your first 3 points, it makes next to no difference on insurance.
It's the next 3 points that make the difference.

Mine was never sent by recorded delivery.
I managed to get away with going on a speeding course.

hm. i wasnt in when the letter was recieved. il see if anyone signed for anything when i next speak to them. this sounds like an interesting way to get out of it but im not totally convinced. i dont mind paying the ticket its just the points and insurance that worrys me! im only 19 and i fear the insurance may rocket!

@ richard24. yes it was around the brackley bypass! how did u know!! they only offer that driving course if ur caught in a 30 zone going slightly above 30. which sadly i wasnt \:\( . i also think not replying gets you double points now!! dont think il be trying that. also has anyone had experience with these companys that claim to get you out of it? i dont think il be going with one. just would be interesting to know.

thanks

Joe

How can u get double points for not recieving something ;\)

I think the double points scheme is to do with responding saying your unable to name the driver.

I work in Brackley so i see them about.
3 points ain't nothing major, don't try to avoid the ticket you'll only end up in deep sh!t.
Get yourself a speed camera detector as you don't want another 3 points.

my opinion is, you were caught fair and square so cough up and handle the consequences which, in all probability, will be minimal.

having said that, http://www.pepipoo.co.uk is worth a look to see what options there may be to challenge this...

i think il just pay up really. there isnt any other option. yes i was caught fair and square but i think the cameras should be placed on more dangerous stretches of road. oh well. lesson learnt \:\( .

Thats unlucky mate \:\(

first 3 points is nothing major though, but if you passed your test in the last 2 years then be very careful as you only need 6 points to get banned in the first 2 years.

I was 21 with 1 year driving experience in a fiesta when i got my modded 20vt \:o

That Brackley by-pass is not a accident hot spot at all.
I can't see why they should be there never seen or heard of an accident along that road.

Just pay the thing, you were speeding and got caught, why do you need to find a loop hole, just face the facts, and its not difficult to get insured with 3 points, it won't even change your premium, blimey I should know \:D
