Think it would be easier & cheaper to make up a wee braket and buy a second small caliper like jimbo suggested...

Dont know if it would be possible to create a brake shoe set up inside the disc..

Suba - they still use the drum based braking unfortunately so not much use. The drum is on the inside of the bell of the rear brake disc.

Has anyone looked at whether the Alfa GT has a vented rear disc?

John, I've just serviced a brera this morning and found out it has vented rear discs. \:#

Update - I am getting PRETTY DAMN hacked off with AP Racing (one of their suppliers at least). They have now had the parts to make a kit for nearly three months, and have come up with nothing - not even a phone call. I last spoke to them 3 weeks ago and asked if they could give me a date for getting the kit completed by the following week, still nothing.

I'm thinking I should be taking my business elsewhere - thoughts anyone? \:\(

Did it have an integral handbrake in the caliper?

Slight trouble with Brera is it's built on a Vauxhall platform so the historic Fiat group compatibility is partially lost.

I’ve given this job to another company called comp brake now. After talking through the options for rear brakes this morning they seem to think that using an Audi TT V6 rear calliper would work well on the coupe and allow for the handbrake to be incorporated in the calliper. The only issue is going to be that the front end of the handbrake cable is going to be FIAT, and the rear end is going to have to be Audi. Sorting out that part is also going to be my responsibility. Can anyone advise me on what is going to be involved and who I might be able to get to do the work?

Urm the TT V6 rear caliper is what Phil is using ;\) - same as the vRS. The handbrake cable will work as both calipers are lucus/girling fitment.

Yes - that;s right. The hubs etc are vauxhall platform based, so the rear caliper may not be compatible at all.
You can tell the hubs are Vauxhall based as they've moved to vauxhall alloy fitment and new brera and 159 alloys won't fit a 156, GT, GTV etc.

I have a plan for the handbrake cable Si, as soon as I get a chance to have a look at it ;\) . Hoping to find some time for the next phase of my rear brake development project this weekend.

when I looked I thought they had the same connector? Anyway it is easy to swap over the arms etc or even fit an adapter. On my beetle cabrio (old style) I have Porsche 944 brakes and I have a simple adapter to convert porsche fitment handbrake cable to Beetle fitment handbrake cable

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood the first comment, I thought it was being said that the Brera itself was based on a Vauxhall platform, rather than just the rear brakes.

the whole brera is on a vauxhall platform. The 2.2 engine is a vauxhall engine, the 3.2 V6 is a vauxhall engine with an alfa head

the grande punto is built on the same platform as the corsa, and the croma is built on the same platform as the 159 and vectra \:\) Now GM have pulled the plug on the relationship with Fiat it means that Fiat will probably develop their own platform for the next brace of cars.

Looking good Si. That's a damn decent effort you've put into getting this developed.

What they gonna cost? I have no will power. °\(
