to view blackies 20vt coupe tomorrow shocked
am i fecking crazy, if it's as well looked after as it seems, i think not?
what's the best time peeps have done this trip in?
i'm guessing on the bike at an average speed (once on the motorways and dual cabbage ways) of 100 a4 sheets of papper per minute i should be able to do the trip in 2 1/2 hours???

You'll be lucky to average that speed even on a bike.

not a chance in 2.5 hours or probably even 3 hours

You have the A34, M40, M42 and M6 to deal with (might be worth standing the £3 or so to use the M6 Toll)

To average anywhere near "100 sheets of A4" you'll need to be regularly peaking at 150+ - just not possible on today's motorways.

I've done Stafford to Portsmouth in just under two hours and I've done Stafford to Manchester in less than 1 hour, (both were at very quiet times of the day) but there's no chance of doing the whole run in less than 3 hours, especially on a Monday lunchtime.

Wait until you get on the M6, between J6 and J10 will be a nightmare. I can almost guarantee it. Use the toll road, OK is £4, but trust me, the stress of the journey will reduce dramatically!

Me thinks you are a tad optomistic, I do Banbury to Manchester most weekends. Best time 2 .15, worst time 5 hours! Oh and you can add a good hour to that to get to Southhampton....strictly at 70 though.

I think about 3hrs 30 mins - Even on a perfectly clear run you'd struggle to get much below 3 hours, incorporating probably 2 stops for petrol, if you're going to be spanking the bike that hard it won't do more than 100 miles per tank (well, if its a litre bike)... I did Donington to Basildon - which is 160 odd miles in 85 minutes, but it was SERIOUSLY hard work, including a stop for petrol.

Hmmmm, I reckon by the time he ordered, got served, ate his food, powdered his nose, that would be 40 minutes so it looks like 3hrs 20 minutes wins! laugh

if i didn't have to stop for fuel and dinner it would have been 3 hours daed.
so yeah 3 hrs 20mins (with 3 fuel stops) was about spot on stan smile
on the way back i managed to stop once for fuel and get back home in 3 hrs and 3mins, had a bit of trafic and it was pretty dark.

Blackie, your a cracking guy and i thank you so much for looking after your car, as i said to you i was very very impressed with the car and it's condition and the journey wasn't a wasted one.
all i need to do now is knock up some pipes and elbows for the fmic smile

p.s my neck is fecking killing me after 6 hours of high speed riding today.

Hope it was,nt that high speed...

Would you believe i took my son to his mates in the coop as i still could,nt find my keys.
On the way back i got stopped by a bloody bike cop for my tax.
Told him the story of it being sorn & you coming up to view the car & it being insured.
He was happy bunny with that & sent me on my way. Good job i did insure it.

Bloody typical.......

So - lets see - thats 223 miles in 3h 3m - an average of 73mph

"you're nicked" springs to mind

How on earth did you think you'd do it in 2.5 hrs?

if the traffic was clear then i think 2 1/2 hours would of been poss.
and in answer to being nicked, i was of course using private roads and fields with the owners consent all the way up there wink

i'll have it off you next summer if you want to part with such a lush bike smile
