So tomorrow is the day I will be able to try out my new mods. It's been sooo painful not being able to overtake people doing 40 in 60 limits. \:\(

Here's my list of goodies;
GT28RS
BlueFlame full system incl. race cat
Blitz ID3 (Rog said map it on a high setting of 1.4bar)
PA FMIC
Walbro 255 fuel pump
K&N 57i
Forge 006 DV
Helix clutch

The coupé has just had a service and everything looked good, compression of 151-150-151-149-151 and my manifold was o.k. \:o

I'm more interested in a good reliable coupé than an all out BIG bhp brawler so have been told to ask for it to be taken 3 degrees back from detonation. ;\) Is there anything else I need to ask. Rog said they will set up my Blitz, would this include the in gear settings?

So with all that in mind and everything going well tomorrow what sort of results should I see? \:\)

Oh yes and is there anything to do at or around PT while I wait?

Cheers, Chris. \:\)

I can see 300+ bhp coming from those goodies \:#

Jamiepm has an almost identical set-up to yours and his is 330bhp \:\)

Good luck!

Thanks. \:\)

330bhp (50% more power) would be great, any idea on what torque that had and specifically what mods. I did try a search but I couldn't find a post from Jamiepm saying what he has (nodetails in the hall of fame).

i would say your setup is very similar to busa's, except you have a cat and i think kev has a 3 inch downpipe. his is 330bhp!

Waiting on BlueFlame for a 3" DP and that will have to go on after the map (I've been told that won't affect the map?). Other than that they do look very similar, thanks.

I'm sure his car is in the hall of fame list.

Not sure of his torque but his full spec is as follows.

Gtec2,GT28R,fmic,dv006,sip,ported manifold,walbro255,jamieflow3"exhaust,,de-cat,avcr.
His top setting is 1.5 bar boost i think!

3 degrees back from det.. It'll be interesting to see how much difference that'll make. Depending on what fuel you're using, i'd say 310bhp \:\)

It will, but only margainly. Having the bigger downpipe will allow the exhaust gases to escape quicker and build up boost soonier, so you maybe a little more lean before full boost, but otherwise, i can't see the top end being affected

Cheers guys.

@Kenno- V-power.

Begbie would it be worth me telling them that so that they can add a little more fuel tomorrow to compensate for the difference when the DP is fitted. Or I was thinking about head work late next year, maybe it might be better to keep the DP off and fit it with the new head then get a re-map?

if you start going much further past your current setup you will have to start thinking about going forged. it isn't cheap as i am finding out at the moment \:\(

I did talk to Rog about the forge stuff when I got that little lot fitted and you're right it's not cheap. I don't really want to go that far and I did think what I have now plus the S3 head would be the SAFE limit on std internals, do you think the head would be a step to far?

If you don't have to pull the engine apart leave it as is. I wouldn't even bother with the other DP to be honest.

I would take a bigger FPR though incase the fuel pump can't provide enough fuel.

That's what PF said about the forge stuff too. ;\)

Rog tested the FP and said there was more than enough power (or what ever it is he measured) going through it, at 13.8, without the wiring mod and FPR. I also asked PT if they thought I should bring a FPR and they said not to bother. It would have been nice to have one just in case but at £80 for something to pros have said I don't need I didn't bother.

He was just checking the voltage didn't drop off the pump under load. As for the FPR, you're going to be limited by the amount of fuel you can get in but if they're winding the ignition back anyhow, as they say, you probably won't need it.

Good luck.. \:\)

I hope they don't need it. I would have thought they must have FPRs in stock just in case anyhow. I'm starting to get a bit nervous now. \:\(

Everything went very well. \:D I turned up on time, although I couldn't find any V-Power pumps on the way up but PT sorted that out. \:#

I explained what I wanted to Rob and that safety was very important. Rob was very helpful and went through my car thoroughly before starting any work. ;\)

I left PT with 324.2bhp at 6,555rpm and 301.6lbft at 4,906rpm and a bloody big smile. \:D This was with 1.38bar which was on full song by 3,150rpm.

All in all I'm VERY happy. \:# Yes it does cost a lot but that should be the last engine mod I do now (under the advise of Rog, Rob and the missus ) and it will be worth every penny if I don't have any fueling issues.

Thanks for everyones help and advice over the last 2 years, this is the result of that help. \:# NEXT YEAR BRAKES AND SUSPENSION but she doesn't know that. \:P

Looking good dude. You happy?

I'd say from the graph, your on song at 3500-3700rpm. Just about right for that turbo. Did they map it to 99ron?

Why did they map it to 1.38 bar?

Curves still don't cross at 5250rpm and it looks like your spool up is no slower than joels ultraspool. In interesting one for the 'a GT28RS is too laggy' crew to figure out. ;\)

It was £528.75 incl VAT. \:\)

According to the Blitz it's on at 3150rpm and I think Rob might be on later to confirm this as I thought there might be a little doubt . ;\) Rog also had a little drive today.

Yes it was mapped on 99ron and it was going to be mapped at 1.35bar but Rob got the torque over the 300 mark by adding .3bar. I think that's why anyway.

if you look ken, at 5250rpm both the torque and bhp are at 290. its just they are on differnt scales.

not a bad price, don't know whether to go perfect touch to get my car live mapped or just tweak the unichip \:\?

It might be on full boost, but from the graph it shows where the torque starts to build. When it flats out, thats when your on song.

I think 007's spool up is the same as others have experienced with that turbo. Joel's however, is unique, and is later than barbz and others thought (including myself).

It's a fixed rate for the first map then I think its an hourly rate £110+VAT for re-maps.

HI Chris,

Just found 5 mins to get on here \:D Replied to quite a few PM's etc etc... Anyways!!
I must be sounding like a stuck record now, i maintain that there isnt one other Marque of car that impresses me every time i do a new one like the Coupes, Yours is definately not an exception to this \:\)
After gettingthe low to mid throttle stuff done and getting some boost on i could not believe the spool up!!
As you can see from the graph the torque is in hard at 3500, on the road in 5th gear this was reduced to around 3300 with full boost around the 3100 mark.

Very good setup you have there chris, certainly not worth going forged IMHO... Cams/head yes \:\)

Once again nice to meet you mate, get some sleep lol \:D

Cheers

Rob

No boost or AFR graph, PT just don't do them.
To be honest I don't (I wont pretend to know much about turbos) know and I wouldn't say it was big drop, well I certainly can't feel anything.

Regarding ambient temps I thought they were quit good, not tooo low. With around 20deg it means I can play knowing that my car was set up in a safe temp zone 3/4 seasons of the year and who wants to rag a turbo in the summer.

Anyway time for a shower and then a little drive. Cheers. \:\)

Freddan,

I have to ask why mate?

I tune to a certain AFR, just wondered after spending £450 you would want to go to another RR to have it checked again?
That would be like going to a garage for an oil change, then booking it into another garage to check the level \:D
Obviously no worries with it happening but why put doubt into anyones mind and make them spend money they dont have to?
Roger from Power Fiat has been doing health checks on cars before they come over to us which i think is a very good idea, but a health check afterwards lol

Cheers

Rob

As a costumer I always want to know the result and that includes the AFR value and if it fluctuates with different boost settings. If you don´t tell the costumer what the AFR is then the costumer need to go to another RR and get the result. Or maybe 007 knows and he doesn´t want to tell us?? \:\)

freddan,

PT do tell the customer what AFR they are running at the highest boost setting, they just dont have facilities to print the reading.

PTS never had facilities to print AFR ir i remember correctly.

Aslong as the mapper knows the safe limits, and has checked for DET (rob does both) then there really is no issue.

Customers running stock internals should really avoid running higher levels of ignition advance and boost, and sacrafice 20bhp for an increased safety margin, particularly for those that are not too knowledgeable of turbo cars, i.e charge temps/Fuelling etc.

Rob does however take this into account and im confident that his mapping is spot on, for a good safety and performance compromise.

PT can print AFR and boost traces, just need to ask for it. The AFR is normally around 11.3-11.5 on max boost but you should always get a power run and AFR reading for lower boost settings as different fueling tables would need to be adjusted... unless of course max boost is your only setting ;\)

Rob did tell me the AFR but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. My head has to remember sooo much as it is (wake up, shower, eat breakfast, go to work, spend all day on fccuk.org ;\) , come home and sleep. I'm sure there's something else! ) that trying to remember something that really makes no difference if I know or not almost impossible.

Anyway 1.4bar has had its day of fun (and what a day it was, 5th gear is incredible! \:D ) now she stays on 1.25bar.

Anyway thanks again, Chris. (Sh!t, breath!) \:o

I agree with Ross - why spend all that money having the car mapped to 1.4 bar and then turn it down.

My car spends 90% of its time on the top setting on the Blitz - I regularly see 1.6 bar on my daily commute.

There are only two instances when I turn it down - carrying nervous passengers or when I'm on a long motorway trip and I want to save fuel (can get over 30mpg at base boost)

Rob - if you're reading this, I'll be booking in soon(ish) for a remap - I now have forged rods, so I can let you get as much torque as you want, rather than holding it back to 330 - 340

007 - you still have a v-band adaptor right? Also, are you still on the 3bar FPR?

Nice result Chris, hope I get similar in a few weeks \:\)

My only concern is Rog advises that I don't need the fuel pump mod. I want to believe him, but just feel I should not leave this to chance.

Some cars need it - some dont. Either way if anything is wrong PT will tell you when they are mapping. You can test this yourself by measuring the voltage at the pump when the car comes on boost - if it drops off then IMO you need the wiring mod.

I'm still running the standard 3bar FPR and NO wiring mod I do have the Walbro pump though.

Point taken on the boost setting but on the same note why spend £300 on an EBC if you're not going to turn it up/down when needed, surly a £20 PRV would have done?

EBC's hold boost better to the redline and can bring boost in more progressively.

when i'm driving slow i have mine on 0.9bar, it's much easier to drive as it doesn't feel like its going to come on to boost all the time. and when it does come on boost its not as manic.

my aquamist is also set to only come on at 1bar+ so another reason for me to not to leave it on full boost all the time. or i'd be going through 10 gallons of methanol a month \:P
