Joe,
so where would you say I would come with an extra 100bhp, (I may get my hks turbos and other items early )
Or would the coupes still keep up, lol
I think we will know more once I mince rog (not in a gay way!)
Hi Joe
I'll do a Simma style analysis , what with a kerb weight of 1530 kg, then a true 400bhp Skyline R33 GTR will have a power/weight of 261 bhp/tonne , very impressive, my coupe is probably running 259 bhp/tonne. Even a 20bhp/tonne difference would probably not be noticeable, and differences in performance will be down to driver style as much as anything else.
Both the 5-cylinder coupe engine and the Skyline engines are very torquey, but the Skylines engine does have a larger power band than the Coupe, but negating that is a certain amount of driveline loss for the 4WD.
So don't know, one thing, I'm sure the Skyline would do this day in and out, whereas I think the Coupe (with standard internals) is right near the limit of engine reliability.
If you're going to add another 100bhp , then there's no chance for me!, you would go up to an incredible 326 bhp/tonne, similar to the Cerbera ~330 bhp/tonne, but stil less than Evocarls ~345 bhp/tonne , I mean, come on there's fast cars and there are FAST cars!!!!!
Joe
still put this in perspective, these are all fast cars, the BMW M3 CSL runs 260 bhp/tonne, with considerably less torque than several of the Coupes

excellent analysis Doc!
I will do my mods in stages, I reckon 3 months from now I'll want that extra 100bhp.
I dont think skylines suffer the same losses as permanent 4wd cars as most of the time they are rear wheel drive.
Anyway we should definately do this even if it is just to have a look around each others fine automobiles and catch up!

I don’t think I’ll have my car setup properly until about august time when I hope to run 400-450bhp but I should be able to make around 320-330, it will be good fun to see all the other tuned cars You will have to set a date so I can prey for rain

some nice posts there guys 50/60 bhp extra on a rolling drag really isnt going to give any real distance between 2 cars. easy make that up with the lower bhp car shifting really quick with no compasion for the car to somebody that shifts in a proper manner. Also the higher the speed is the less my light weight will matter, sure from standstill it will be a real big bonus..once moving not so much. Not with the Evo 3's aerodynamics, (or should I say lack of ) v a Coop's silky smooth body anyway Actually went out in my friends proven 360bhp Scooby type r tonight and met up with another friends Evo8 MR 340(with decat so 350bhp) The Evo is around 150kg heavier(i think) than the scoob but side by side the Evo was actually quicker, albeit by a few feet. one more thing, if I make it do I win ugliest car prize btw I just thought of something, doesnt the 33 gtr go to 2wd once rolling/has grip???

Carl,
It is the other way round mate, its rear wheel drive and when it senses loss of grip it will divert power to the front (theres a little torque guage on the dash, that shows you the % of torque going to the front wheels.) This can happen at any time for example on a launch it knows straight away and gives you what you need at the front. This all happens in 1/1000th of a second.
You can buy hks torque splitters so you can decide how much power permanently goes where.
Then theres the 4 wheel hicas steering, but thats another story.

The main aim of the day will be to gather an array of modded Coupes (+ non Coupes). It will probably be a typical type of meet (nice venue to park up, food and non alc drinks at hand and a couple of quiet open roads to admire ), unless that is that I can find a venue that will cater for a few private runs. The meet will be open to all Coupe owners and not just the high powered ones and one of my ideas is for the high powered Coupes to have a full spec sheet in their cars so that other Coupe owners can get an idea of what has been done to achieve the power. There are various Coupes hopefully attending that are running similar power but with very different set ups, so I think it would be a good idea to display this. I will certainly be interested and wouldn't mind a couple of passenger rides in the respective Coupes to "feel" the differences in power delivery etc... Coupe ownership from a tuning perspective is at an all time high at the moment, outfits such as Rog at Powerfiat, Barbz at TorqueItalia and Paul at Motormech are all advocates to this with consistant proven results both in terms of power and improving reliability, but there are also a few "experts" in the field who have modded their Coupes using their own knowledge (sometimes with a Tuner) with some excellent results. Therefore as an interested outsider or potential owner who wanted to mod their Coupe this would be a good event to attend. Possible dates and Venue to follow............ ps I will update my first post in this thread with attendees names.

Hi
im Rolys mate with the GTI-r. Will definatly be up for coming along to this provided ive still got the car. Had a run behind cyclones tvr on the way to totb last year which was good fun. Rolling up to 120/130sh id hope to stay with the cerb before the aerodynamics of a brick take hold and it disappears into the horizon. Im running 348bhp and 400lb or torque at the wheels (430ish bhp at the fly). I'd say a 350 bhp + coupe ought to be pretty close though.

I think a provisional date is going to be the end of March, as quite a few peeps have some work to finish off on their cars to get them upto scratch (remove the excuses ) Jamie

Flea,
I am looking into this and have made a couple of enquiries. I can't guarantee anything but it'll be a bonus if I can get something sorted.
Jules.

Hi Chris,
You know that I would love to be re-united with her again , it might be a few years since we last met, but from the looks of her she still has bumps and curves in all the right places.........who says they don't improve with age

Damn,
I might have been tempted by this meet in the Lotus, but since it is in bits awaiting a complete engine re-build (and looking like a few months off the road) I won't. Would have liked to have had a look at the cerbera cyclone. I have driven tuscans and they are great. Would have liked to seen the skyline as well Joe. That was one of my options when changing the coupe. Great cars. Maybe next time (when hopefully mine is well again)

ahhaaaaa more weight saving ideas, check the weight of these new Evo 3 doors out http://www.racepro.co.nz/panels.shtmsaving me 20kg per front door. Think 1000kg ish is within reach if I go mad maybe. thing is where do you stop with spending money on a proton Joe: skyline doors to, shed some much needed kg's from the bardge

Sun 2nd April according to the first post.
BTW Cyclone, you've got me listed as owning a 20VT but I actually own a Renault Alpine GTA V6 turbo! I'm interested in coming along to this, but not too sure I can make 2nd April yet.
