I would refurb the turbo - £300 Pro alloy FMIC - £200 Gtech 1 chip - £40 PRV - £40 Boost Gauge - £40 Exhuast - £300 A ruddy good service and fitting - £300
So over your budget a little, but you could always look for second hand or fit yourself.
Don't forget a fast car needs tio be able to stop and drive better too so you could, sort the brakes and suspension out, one of the best mods is a strut brace, makes the car no faster, but more sure footed and allows you to push harder, so in effect faster less than a £100.
A proper refub of the Turbo is £500 minimum Jim. This includes fatigue checking the housing which is a must !! No recycled parts used as this is plain daft. Andy.

If you read TT and TD website, of what goes into an exchange turbo, then you will realise that the ones offering to refurb for £250.00 are well dodgy and they will not last for many thousands of miles. For one thing, they will use the old actuator and spring. No fatigue checking of the housing. All you will get is new seals and a bearing. Will not even be balanced i bet!! Cheap turbos have ruined many engines, so be warned!! Andy.

My £320 refurb Turbo Dynamics replaced essentially everything, bar the compressor wheel and the hosuings. It was also balanced as well. There was no option of a cheap refurb, it was all or nothing. yep i have had turbo recon's from td for £350 which included everything, that was for a ct20 for a friends gt4. i had one of my ct20 turbos turned into a hybrid (fully rebuilt and balanced) for £560, at work and can't think or find the company who did it, ut it was good for 8k then i sold it on, upon remova there was still no shaft play or endfloat. some of the recons i have read on this forum seem a tad steep to be honest, i'm sure there is nothing drasticly different when comparing a 20vt turbo to any other. karl

Ben Ben. I stand corrected. Prices must of come down then. Andy.

timpyeon offers a similar front mount intercooler to the Pro-Alloy one for a bit less money, look either in the for sale section or group buy section you should find him. not sure of the cost, thought it was about 300 ish. IMO if you are going to upgrade your turbo a FMIC is essential.
