Just recevied my renewal letter from Noel Dazely & Co, only to be very dissapoointed and confused. Heres the problems: - Renewal Increase in Price despite me now being over 25 and having 2 years no claims
- Previous price was £785, new price is £795.
ND seems to be run by one guy in his shed as well. The date heading the letter that arrived TODAY is 12th September! (thats weeks before any postal strikes began so i can only assume its sat on someones desk for a long time). Looks like i'll be going elsewhere this year. No way can my premium be higher after turning 25 and adding another year to my no claims.

I'm with them now but don't think I will be next year. When I bought the Monaro, I swapped the policy over from the (crashed) Coupe for about £50, and asked them what the likely annual policy would be - they said in the region of £800. Renewal duly turned up - £1800! After two phone calls, this was down to about £600 - yes, a TWELVE HUNDRED POUND reduction.......
So, I think they were trying it on. I did renew with them only because I was very busy with work etc and needed the renewal sorted there and then, but next year I'll be taking time to shop around and go elsewhere, I think.

£572.70 through Greenlight with all my mods listed and me as the only driver. Not a bad start at all (£200 cheaper from my first quote). Wonder how much it'll drop if i put a woman on the policy aswell

Now Confused.com has come back (and i put all my mods on there aswell) with:
£555.45 through Elephant £560.70 through Admiral
Seems this sentence on my ND letter is somewhat inaccurate:
"...having thoroughly checked the market on your behalf ... the current Insurer [is] competitive"
PS the difference on these quotes is that i put my mother on the insurance as an additional driver.

My renewal is due next month. They always send me a letter saying the quote has come out at X amount but to phone them as they’ll be able to reduce it anyway. Perhaps they just send you the renewal quote from the underwriters without shopping around from the various underwriters they use? I’ve always found them quite good though on the phone. Although Dean always seems to take his holidays about the time that I’m supposed to phone him and renew. Last year I phoned and they said see what the best quote elsewhere is and we’ll see if we can beat it, which they did.

PS the difference on these quotes is that i put my mother on the insurance as an additional driver. My policy with Elephant is £100 cheaper with Clare on the policy. It made it more expensive with Greenlight because she had an accident a couple of years ago. You would think the logic behind their quotations would be similar.... Dave

A good tip, When your renewal comes through with whichever company you happen to be with... First, call them back and tell them you have had a cheaper quote elsewhere (helps to call around first) see if they will price match. Second point is all insurers only make money when you renew! So the first year premium has the lowest commission added, go online to the same insurer and run a brand new quote, 9/10 times it will be cheaper. Then just lapse your existing policy from the renewal date and set up the new one. Insurers hate this but there is nothing to state that you cannot do this

Well Flux/ND/Greenlight are performance / modded car specialists Insurance varies HUGELY from person to person, so what may be good for one, could be cr*p for someone else If you want to know if they are cheaper for you, you know what to do

Insurance premiums depend on loads of things; age and sex of the drivers are just 2 of many, so it's hard to say which company is best for you as an individual. That's why it's best to shop around... One factor to consider when shopping around is that the cheapest quote isn't always the best, look at the XS amount if there is a £50 diff between quotes but £200 diff in XS you may be better off taking the more expensive quote in the long run! Other things that can make a massive diff are things like optional extras, like protected no claims bonus and so forth. The protected no claims bonus can some time add up to another 30% on you premium. If you had 5 years (65%) and claimed you would drop down to 3 years (55%), in other words you lose 10% of your discount, but if it's costing you 30% to protect 10% is it really worth it? This is not always the case but should be considered when shopping around. Hope it helps

Its always a good idea to check at least 3 alternative quotes, when your reneval is up. Even if you are happy with the quote from your existing insurer, you never know if there is a better deal until you give it a try.

Right just a little update: On monday i gave Noel Dazely from 9.35am (5 mins after they opened) till the end of the day to beat a quote i got from Adrian Flux which stood at £525. ND's lines close at 5pm whilst AF's close at 7pm so i basically told ND if they couldnt match it by 5pm then i'd move insurers (as i needed the car that evening). Anyways after not hearing from ND by about 4pm i gave Adrian Flux a call and just confirmed the quote they had given me and the cover it offered etc etc. Everything looked great, including the inclusion of 3rd party cover for me to drive anyone else's car, which is a first for me. At 5.20pm after not hearing from ND i rung AF and confirmed the policy. So here i am, insured for another year and exremely happy with the tiny £525 i've had to pay (compared with ND's own quote). And also confident that it was simply too cheap for ND to get anywhere near.

yeah i have been with noel dazely
i didnt find them very helpful after problem i had, well no suprise when i asked to speak to manager i was told no! i never swore at them the two women at noel dazely then they would not speak to me at all , no suprise they more then doubled my renewal quote from 500 to over 1k when i did speak to them they said yes we wont give you cheaper and f**k off basicly
basicly some people will get good qoutes and service others wont i wouldnt say they are bad , just like any other insurance company that you will deal with but only smaller no internet etc . gives a friendly feel to your insurance but not able to deal with lots of problems , quotes all at once i guess

I am with Greenlight and even this year there quote was the best! I have not been the easiest of customers either as I hada second car on the insurance, (Mirrored no claims) which I crashed! I am also not very good at sending stuff back to them, got as memory like a siv you see!
Can't fault greenlight!
I'm 26, 7 years no claims, Had an accident last year in my second car, all mods declared and the renewal was/is £672.70. The accident bumped it up by £100!

I've just re-insured with them, my premium has gone down from £485 to £375 as my full NCB is now on the coupe rather than an ancient Punto second car (history goes back to accident). No one is going to beat that so very happy (waiting now for an indication of how much a change of car would add to the premium )
