Hi,
I was wondering if any one knew of a place that sells/makes Half Roll Cages for the Fiat Coupe? My car is going to be used primarily on the track but still be road legal.

I have seen Begbie's excellent thread on fitting an OMP Roll Cage but I'm a little put off by the amount of work needed to be done around the dash area. I could potentially use the rear half of the OMP Cage only but the front cage connecting rods would still be left sticking out - hope this bit makes sense! \:\?

Many thanks.

I think OMP make a half cage for crica £300.

Other cage manufactures may be able to help you like Custom Cages or Safety Devices

Will see if I can find a link to the OMP cages

EDIT:

Here you go

I'd be interested as well - but went on to the OMP site and it only lists the full monty cage. Anyone got any more specific info on the rear cage?

Peter

Cheers 13ad13oy for the reply.

I've looked on the Safety Devices website and they don't show a Coupe fitment. I'll give them and Custom Cages a call on Monday.

Peter: If you look at Begbie's thread 'Rollcage Fitting' it shows a picture of the rear section of the OMP Full Cage fitted to his car.

I've also sent an Email to Y B Racing (UK OMP Importer) asking if they do just a half cage off the shelf. I'll report back once I get any further info.

Yeah, have already looked at that, but would prefer a 'proper' rear cage - and the thought of carving up the dashboard for a full cage does not appeal at all!

Look forward to hearing any info you get.

Cheers

Peter

What is your defintion of a "proper" rear cage?

The OMP one i have is a "proper" one, mounts in 6 places (rear bench, floor and by the pillar seat belts), but as Jube says, it's comes in 2 parts. Rear and front. Just do away with the front one.

Jube, you could just use the rear and chop the extending pipes out, so you qouldn't know your head on them \:\)

By 'proper' I meant a specific rear-only cage - I do suppose I could live with half the full cage at the end of the day! But if the rear section is available on its own, I'm also sure it'll be less expensive than buying the complete cage.

Right then, options obtained so far listed below:

OMP Cage (YBRacing): Full Cage (Rear can be used as half cage with mild mod - Cheers Begbie for the pictures on your thread and idea). YBRacing have said they will reduce their postage to £25 rather than £59.99, which brings the cost down to £349.99 + £25 = £374.99 ALL INCLUSIVE. They said they would discount further for larger orders. According to YBRacing OMP do not make a specific Half (Rear) Cage for the Fiat Coupe.

Rollcentre: Stuart quoted £258 + £17.50 + VAT = £323.71 INCLUSIVE for a WELD IN Half Cage with Removable Diagonal, although he did say they MAY be able to adapt it to be a Bolt-in kit. They have made a Full Cage for a Coupe in the past so they have the correct dimensions.

Custom Cages: Kevin quoted £600-700 + VAT for a 'one off' Half Cage as they haven't done a Coupe before. 3 Units would be £350 + VAT each and 5+ Units = £280 + VAT + Delivery = £329 + Delivery.

Safety Devices: They haven't returned any of my left messages!

So, it's looking more and more like an adapted OMP Full Cage for me and I can then always fit the front cage if and when I want to!

I'll post any further updates as and when I get additional information.

PS - did Safety Devices not go bust a while back?

Hi Peter,
That probably explains why I couldn't get through to them then! \:\)

Just got the 2008 Demon Tweeks catalogue in. They are quoting £300 + VAT + delivery for the OMP cage, but if you are a member of their Pole Position scheme (which I am!) you get 10% off this price = £317 + delivery.

Would like to have a half roll cage also,BUT need to check with my insurance as sometimes there is a hefty increase on your premium, or they will refuse to insure it. best to check first. G \:\)

It is, but the cage was quite a way off the holes when lined up, so ended up welding my OMP cage in

A half cage is nothing more than a fancy roll bar. If its goign to be mainly a track car you should fit a full cage.

Go dig up my rollcage thread and you will see what it is like to fit it.

Don't know on any other bolt in ones, could try sparco, even though it was listed in demon thieves you call them up and they tell you sparco don't make it anymore

Oh, if you decide to go with the bolt in ones, you will need to put holes in the top of the sill (inside the car) and also weld the plates to the sill. You will also need to run without any rear seats, maybe rear trim and will definately need to drill holes through the rear wheel arch to get the strengthing plate on.

Just some thoughts before thinking it's a simple bolt in affair
