It's not a hard job to do yourself mate...

Would running a "gutted" cat make the same effect and be ok?

I cannot see why you lot don't buy yourselves a race cat. Lot less resistance, clean motor.. smile
Will get you thru the MOT too, which we have once a year here anyway.

Get what custom'd? Surely a 16vt cat, taken off, gutted will just go straight back on?

Sorry..you mentioned that it was easy to do..was just saying that i would still need the decat pipes done..nothing to do with you questions on gutting.

Not sure of the gutting..wouldn't it be easier just to put on a pipe?

I agree but I'm thinking of buying a gutted pipe from a member on here for £20 to run with my evochip I'm eagerly awaiting for!

Are there any significant differences between a gutted cat and and a pipe?

I shall indeed, if it all goes to pot it's just another learning curve and an experience to share on the forum. I'll be fitting it at the same time I'll fit my Evochip and uprated plugs too.....bring on the power (if it works lol)

Thats abit random?

You can do a search on this forum on turbo timers. I think you will find that msot people don't fit turbo timers on their coops because its not worth the hassle of bypassing the immobiliser. You just let it cool down before cutting off.

Well my de-cat so far is proving to be a worthwhile mod! It's a gutted cat and it's been on there over a month now with no problems to report so far!

Initial spool up seems better and I think it may hold boost slightly better aswell. A worthwhile mod!

I had my cat put back on for the new turbo, I prefer it this way, it seems to run more smoothly and the blueflame still sounds gorgeous love

I had a decat and my turbo smoked more than i did..lol sounds really good and got better boost/mpg. changed turbo and still smoking. now the cat is put back on untill i can get bigger turbo that can handle less BP.

good luck with decats but say goodbye to your std turbo.
