I've got a spare Pipercross Viper (Carbon Fibre Enclosed Air Filter) which I'm considering fitting to my 20vt.

Has anybody else fitted one (or a similar product like the BMC CDA) to their car and if so what was your thoughts on how it performed?

Or am I better off just fitting a Pipercross panel filter in to the standard airbox?

Any feedback is much appreciated,
Julian.

If your car is standard then just use a PPF.

It'll improve your breathing slightly and you'll hear more of a "surge" noise.

Power-wise probably won't make bugger all difference!

I have a BMC CDA on mine...great improvement, but I own an 1.8, don't think it'll make such a big diferrence on the Turbo

I personally don't rate the Pipercross Viper. I'd have a BMC CDA anyday of the week.

However, seeing as you have it lying around I'd just fit it anyway to see if it made any appreciable difference.

I think you might find it restrictive at the top end, but give it a whirl, I'm sure there would be some interest in your result.

I have a universal Viper filter in the shed as well, never got round to installing it because i need to change the piping behind the filter.

@ Jube:

can you post a picture of your Viper filter?

Thanks all for the feedback.

Pol: My Viper is off one of my other track cars so will need adapting slightly to fit the 20vt. It does look a little different to yours as you'll see when I get the piccies taken.

I'll be having a test fit to the car in the next few days, so i'll take the pictures then and post them up.
