Hi all, i am currently running a novitech chip in my car and running 1 bar boost. I have now got my gtec 2 chip and i have been told by one of the forum mods to fit it soon as i can as its a far better chip and he lost an engine on the novitech, gets me worried
Would it be ok to fit the gtec 2 at 1 bar (have got a electronic boost controller) before i can get it rolling roaded after crimbo. It won't run too rich will it as i don't want bore wash and don't want to run 1.2 bar until its on the rollers.
I no longer have my stock chip so can't put that back in

My mods are- custom hybrid (t28), fmic, sip, k&n, walbro, fuel pump wiring mod.

Any advise would be muchly appreciated and sorry for another gtec 2 chip post

Not sure but with those mods dont you just need a Gtec 1?

AFAIK, the problem with the Novitech is that it can cause big overboost which obviously isn't so good. So unless you have some other sort of problem it should be ok. And with an ebc it's not going to overboost so I'd leave as is.

Also, the gtech2 is mapped so that it changes the fuelling dependant on the boost used. So running 1 bar would be ok.

Oh right, i was told the novitech can run lean at midrange which i don't want. When i took my plugs out they was abit on the weak side so only running 0.8 bar at the mo and the car doesn't like it, no go after 3.5k Think i will put the gtec 2 in and go easy on it until its rolling roaded after crimbo.

Anyone else running a gtir on a gtec 2 ok.

Late reply now since from the other thread it seems you've fitted it already, but yeah it will be fine at 1.0 bar, even without an uprated intercooler.

Hi Graham thanks for the reply, i have got an uprated fmic, sip, gtir and 2.5" dp.
Can i thank you for making sure a nice chip, the car pulls lots better lowdown and when i did have it at 1.2bar (short time) it was very quick, getting it on the rollers after crimbo so will let you know how i get on.

Some of us in France are rolling with 1bar4, 1bar5 with a perfect AFR (with normal gtec2 version)...

I always wonder why you ride with so little pressure?

With a PRV or PBV you'll have to lower the boost as compared to running with the original EBV, as the boost control/all the safety functions are lost.

What is perfect AFR for you?

I don't think i would gain much running 1.4/1.5 bar from my hybrid as it will be out its efficiency band. I have not had chance to get my afr checked yet so only running 1 bar, Another coupe may run 1.4bar no problem and get good afr, but not every engine or setup is the same, knowing my luck it will be really very lean and no way to check yet.

I can run 1.6 bar without running lean... but it just feels wrong.

Yeh but you have a gt28r, headwork and bigger exhaust ross. I can't get the power down in 2nd at 1bar at the mo and running eagle f1 tyres, so no chance at 1.6 bar lol

Lol true. I was running 0.7 bar earlier and it was borderline on letting go at 5000rpm in 2nd.

i can get it to spin them up in second on 0.7 if i catch it right. Its quite weird as when on 1 bar i can give it full bananas at 3k it boosts hard but then when it hits about 5k it spins them everytime if its this weather, its like it has abit more go at 5 k

The gtec 2 in running in very well now, it shocked me tonight i was catching cars a tad faster then i expected and thats at 1 bar can;t wait till i run 1.3/1.4 bar

Its the extra ignition advance in the chip over the gtech1. PT mapping is more aggressive again, making the car feel alot faster on the road.

I dont think Owen's will map it AS aggressively, but defo will improve on the 3/4 degrees of the gtech2.
