Is there anyone in the UK going to do something interesting with the coupe.

Seems the most interesting things at the moment are:

having a re-spray rolleyes boring

fitting a bodykit rolleyes

fitting a huge turbo and associated stuff, copying what someone like barbz has done before, nothing adventurous from anyone, good when its different and new, gets boring.

having a re-spray rolleyes boring

one 4x4 grale engine conversion, now thats good

one diesel conversion, wrong but different

beast hacking his floors out for a RWD cossie job, very good, apart from once he cut the floors out he gave up.

There just doesn't seem to be anything interesting like most owners clubs, no good engine transplants, not one to my knowledge concourse job, only one 4x4 jobbie, seems the only projects are re-sprays and bodykits and a few done before mods.

Is there no-one secretly doing something really interesting???? No concourse jobs anywhere.

Some days i really feel like (once ive a big job finished) hacking one to pieces and slapping a 4x4 cossie or speed 6 or something dirty in.

Ok call me odd, but i do now find them boring. Nothing better than looking at real interesting conversions and concourse jobs on other forums. 550 bhp cossie fiesta's, v8 chevvy engined tuscans etc etc.

Coupe's are so cheap now, surely someone fancies and has the ability to tackle something new.

Carl..entertain me with your thoughts...

I have 2 coupes to fiddle with the plus and the NA...I suppose its down to budget really but I am always entertained by such flights of fancy...But something which is uncommon amongst most dreamers - I have the inclination and a few quid to actually DO IT...

Good on ya for proding the dosile...

I want a concourse one, one day. Not a minter, a proper bloody concourse job. Absolutely all the way back and built again, regardless of cost. I'd keep it forever and hand it down.

Still boring, spose.

Exactly, interesting.

Unfortunatly the coupe world equivelant is something like:
V6 4motion engined, TT dash with everything working, Porsche seats, corvette wheels = gtech chip, sprayed console, new oil cooler pipes, anthracite wheels.

TT engined, TVR Interior in tan leather, 4x4 conversion, porsche rims = gtech chip & gt28r, carelli seats, bilsteins & azevs.

boring. frown

I know what you could do. Hack one into a convertible, then structurally reinforce it so that it doesnt snap in half at the first speed bump.

monster truck / fiat coupe project. Fiat coupes are not that great at cornering...BUT FEAR NOT! YOU NO LONGER NEED TO CORNER!. The monster coupe will plough straight through anything in its path!!

Interesting, concourse is good.

I'm serious. Could solve my dilemma of which one to keep, too.

I worked with someone years ago who had a concours motor. IIRC it was some sort of Escort. He won lots of prizes with it, but the trouble with concours is, you move it 5 yards out of the garage and then you've got a 3 day mission to return it back to concours again. I never understood how he could get it to shows and still win, as the detail you need to go to virtually involves polishing the inside of the tyre treads - it's that level of commitment.

Or obsession!

I'm with carl, with the price of coops at the minute being so reasonable why is no one else doing anything daft?

I'm not sure what way to take mine next, once a few more bits are done (bodywork, bits of maintenance etc) do I keep it as a nice daily driver, or get something sensible for that and push the coop a bit further?

I have to say, the 73k one in Belfast at £450 is verrrrry tempting to buy as a plaything. Just not enough room at the inn for me......

I have looked at various options and even priced them up. But i would need to have a separate coupe for the plans. You cant have styling and tuning together. It just doesn't go. If i had a spare coupe and around £12k i would do something good.

Unfortunately my coupe is my daily driver and i think thats crazy enough!!! laugh
