Hi all, last night i was setting my boost controller up to 1.25 bar read for the rr day i have in 3 weeks. I was out with my mate thats got a stock coop. We did quite afew runs of 2nd/3rd/4th at any speed any gear we was dead even nothing in it at all (like we wasn't moving), this was very gutting for me as i have spent alot on it doing the mods the right way. I didn't even start to pull at high revs where mine is still boosting 1.15 bar and a stock turbo would be boosting .7 bar.
I don't seem to have any running problems or boost leaks.
My mates stock coop doesn't have a boost guage yet so not sure what its running, but its quick (i have been against afew stock coops at gaydon last year and i easily pulled away above 4 k when i was running 0.9 bar)
This got me and my mate thinking his isn't stock, he had a run against a seat cupra r that as been rr'ed at 260 bhp and they was dead even too.

When i was out in his, his coop doesn't boost until 3k then goes really well. We are thinking its had a hybrid put on and a chip but no paper work to back it, as i thought stock turbos boost at 2/2.5k (other stock ones including when mine was boost between these revs)

There was only one good thing about it, mine was sooo much quicker round the bends so least some of my money and hard work made something better.

If anyone's got any ideas please say as we both not sure why.

Thanks Ash

If your boost gauge is reading correctly, then it would suggest that hes running a gtech1 running 1.2 bar, possibly with a hybrid. Ideally he wants to join you at the RR.

Just did another comparison with the stock coupe i drove with and another stock coupe (which i know is defo stock) and the one i drove with last night was easily faster then the other stock coupe. So it must have had some mods done.

My coupe is stock and doesn't boost until 3.5k! I don't have a boost gauge but I don't have any complaints about the car either.

smile i know would make me feel better if it was modded. They thing that got me was on 1 bar and 1.25 bar there didn't seem to be any difference in performance. So i am guessing its not fueling right at 1.25 bar, so only using 1 bar again until its on the rollers in 3 weeks.

What intercooler and turbo are you running? With the stock items they will simply be raising the inlet temperatures at 1.25 Bar rather than doing anything useful.

I have a universal fmic (seems to work well going by my temp sensor, never see about 35 even on full chat in 4th) I have a custom hybrid, but is very similar to a gtir so should run 1.3/1.4 bar, so 1.25 isn't pushing it too much.
But yesterday i stripped my inlet system, moved afew pipes, tightened my dump valve up abit (hks), changed all my coil packs (had some spare that work well) changed my tps sensor, cleaned my throttle body and cleaned my air flow meter, its now a different beast. I can defo tell the difference between 1 bar and 1.3 bar now smile So one of those things i changed has made t alot better, its also got rid of my poor running when cold, it seems to just want to pull all the time, so really pleased with it now.

Mike i am going to noble motorsport in chesterfield on the 25th this month, i have reserve 3 places at the moment. Me and paul20vturbo are going so 1 slot free.

smile why do you want to come ross, you already know your bhp on yours and i don't want mine being shown up on the rollers smile
Long way for you to get it rolling roaded mate and your bush will take me a good 2 hours as i won't be doing it at work. the rr day will last till 3 (so will be getting dark by 4) so won't have much time to fit it.

why more power, have you changed stuff since your last rr. When paul gets back to me that hes got the day off i will ring them to confirm places and that the other 2 hasn't been taken up. I only provisionally booked the other slots so if someone rang them for that day and time it will be taken frown

The reason is all in the map mate.Brewster used to beat my car before my map.I had all my mods on and he had a stock 20vt.
Pissed me off proper.
But once i had the live map.asta la vista brewster.
More power...sooner and for longer.

Its hard to keep up on roads you don't know in the dark smile and when your driving off at junctions john when i have to stop wink

Mike i have quite abit changed, billy front shocks, pi springs, new top mounts/wishbone pans/anti-roll bar links/ track rod ends. Kyb ultra sr rear shocks, 16vt top strut brace, nigel custom lower strut brace, H&R 20mm hubcentric spacers, 18" wheels, 225/40r18y Goodyear eagle f1's. think thats about it on the suspension smile
