Just want to pick peoples brains to find out at what rev's do there gt28rs come on boost I can probely guess it depends on how the EBC is set up I have mine set up to run just under 1.4 midrange and i can get on to boost by 3k and 3100k the torque comes in and then all hell breaks loose Ben

i would say it does pull at just after 3500rpm, but really gets going at 5000rpm all the way to the limiter

i run a apexi boost controller which lets to adjust the boost levels in each gear. not sure if it lets you change the duty in each gear though which would probably give you a less agressive spool up. iam sure someone will know Kev

The problem with that Ross is that the boost response is crap - e.g. 4,000 rpm in 4th, lift off then nail it again and it takes an age to spin up and get to full boost. i reckon that you are better off using your right foot to adjust the boost, or get a controller that allows you to run less boost in the lower gears.

Good point suba, never thought of that. Ross

You shouldn't break traction in the dry, probably more a problem with your tyre or suspension setup.

Bloody good point John. Tracking, wishbones, tyres etc. are major factor in how a coop gets the power down, and how much torque steer you get!

Had a go this morning and its sorted Lowered the set-gain down and adusted the set up a bit and it now pulls very strong and straight in third as for the traction in 2nd, i can now get the power down, though all the testing over the last few days were when the roads were very damp Ben

Unless the road is dry i still get a tiny bit of slip Though lowering the set-gain a little on the controller its still spooling up nice and quick Ben

I agree with JohnS - I'm not sure I could break traction in the dry in 2nd gear even if I tried. Even in the wet, it needs to be a pretty slick surface to cause me problems.
However, as has already been said, the reason that a 300bhp Coupe can have more traction issues than a 400-500bhp Coupe is the way that the torque arrives, rather than the actual amount of it.
A larger turbo will always spool slower and by definition, the change is less sudden. A small turbo will kick hard and go from not much to quite a lot of torque across a very short rev band.
The only realistic way to reduce the kick is to reduce the spoolup speed of the turbo, which is usually best achieved by reducing the gain setting.
Note that this will also help with clutch life too - torque is as bad for clutches as it is for tyres.
If you're getting torque-steer, something is wrong with your setup. I've never had it on a Coupe, ranging from bog-standard to madly-modded and everywhere inbetween
