This weekend I went into a Tesco fuel station (not for the rubbish fuel but for the free air).

There was a line of cars waiting to use the tyre air thing.

So I wait my turn and eventually after 10 mins I get my go.

My girlfriend was in passenger seat listening to music so I left the ignition on whilst I pumped up my tires.

When I got back in the car, I pressed the gimmicky red started button. Nothing happens.

I take the key out start again, press the button nothing.

Fortunately for that moment I was the only car getting air now.

I think maybe its something to do with the immobiliser.

I get out of the car. Lock it wait 30 seconds, Unlock it again.

I then get back in the car. Put the key in, press the button, nothing!

I call my Dad now as I have no clue why it’s not working (he was less than mile away)

He turns up and says “Must be a loose connection on the button or something” but I can see the dashboard lights dim a tiny bit when I depress the button (the battery is showing normal.) so must be working. We give up and dad says he’ll call the AA (I’m not a member but he is and he’s insured to drive it so it seemed the only thing to do (must get cover)).

So he goes to move his car and then ring the AA.

I sit down back in the car. Now people filling up at the pumps up are starting to stare. Embarrassed I say to the car, “You’re not doing the Fiat image any favours today you know”

I put the key in one more time and press the button purely out of despair, suddenly engine fires up nicely!

I call my dad and tell him not to worry. I drive the car home park it up, wait 5 mins and then try the starter and it fires up normally I decide to give it wash and i wax and buff it up nicely.

I take it out for a drive. Pulled to a stop later at a zebra crossing for a group of kids go. All of them go “Woooow cool car” as they go past. I tell my coupé “That’s more like it” And since then the coupé starts happily every time.

Not sure hat actually happened to the car has anyone had something like this?

Talk to Powerfiat Roger knows how to fix this. I think it is a common problem on the LE.

Yeap deffinately the starter button issue from the sounds of it. I've been caught in situations like yours sooo many times!

Follow as per the guide. For some reason, the 35/40amp as mentioned in the guide didn't work for my car. Went for a 75amp relay and its been fine ever since \:\)

I'll sort it out soon hopefully just need some spare time.

I use V-Power all the time. And I don't think my tesco has that type of fuel.

I heard V-Power was the best of the bunch
