Hey Kelvin, I'm a bit surprised that you think the clutch is heavy - guess I'm just used to more agricultural kit. What I had noticed is that there is a point very close to the end of the travel when the amount of pressure changes - reduces slightly. But no noise yet.
The other job that I have to do, and before the MoT in April, is change the rear pads and disks. Presumably these are out of a fiat part bin and not too expensive? and presumably this is a fairly standard procedure? I know, I know - I shouldn't be too presumptious!
Ah, half the fun of motorbikes is in the maintenance - I'm feeling more at home already ;\)

Hi Jethro,
Yes your clutch is comparatively heavy. The point at the end of the travel that you are talking about, is it the biting point? Worn clutches would have a high bite point.

Rear pads and discs are not that expensive. You can order them off Steve/Tracey from Alternative Autos.

Alot of us on here get parts from them. Their pricing is reasonable and their service is top notch.

Thanks Kelvin, i'll get the disks and pads ordered

The Clutch takes up quite smoothly about mid-way through the travel. The change in pressure only occurs if I fully depress the clutch - about the last 10 mm before the pedal meets the floor. I'd put it down to lever angles or something like that. I'm not really familiar with how these things work - the last clutch I stripped and re-built was a multi-disk multi-sprung (21 springs) motorcycle clutch on a Velocette Viper - things have changed a bit on bikes since then so I'm sure the coupe will be nothing like that was!

I'm going to follow the boy's advice and run it till I notice some slipping, then I'll worry about it.

See you about
Jethro

Is it even stiffer at the last 10mm?

My punto has the same problem. Its just the release bearings i think..but if you are gonna change that you might as well change the whole clutch kit.

Nothing severe..i've driven the punto like that for ages \:P
