Hi,

Can you run a coop on LPG? I tried searching for LPG on here but got no results!

Well he didn't exactly mod his car in the most methodical way

To be honest, is it actually worth the big outlay on a coupe unless you do a lot of miles. May as well just have a cheap diesel hatch?

Yes but I'm looking at keeping this for a long time. Well at least I had better if I end up buying a new engine. The LPG kit would pay for itself in 1-2 years.

There's a massive cost in trying to get it mapped right. I wouldn't bother going that route. If you're looking for economy, and buying a new engine, just drop a diesel in the coop.

Paul at Motormech should be able to fill you in on KP's LPG woes

I helped fit the last engine to his coop when it went pop, But that was down to no oil \:\) But i know he had afew rebuilds do to it running lean on the lpg or something. He was running a gt28rs and a 3"decat exhaust \:\)

I wouldn't put lpg on a coop myself as they don't like running lean and i would be too paranoid about it.

It's a good idea, but the fuelling needs to be checked properly.

I have a LPG converted LE and it is brilliant. It does have a £2000 Romano sports conversion and it runs like a dream, I don't use it for going out on a hi-speed drive, but everyday driving it's great. You hardly notice the difference and it only costs 50p a litre. It costs me £25 to fill up and I do about 250 miles.

Yes I think modern LPG systems can be run on a coop easily if setup correctly. Who did your conversion Leester?

That's only about 23 mpg on LPG where the Coupe can return 30+ on petrol.

I'm having a similar economy issue on my LPG'd car (not a Coupe unfortunately) - 22 MPG on LPG vs 30+ on petrol.

I don't think there is anything wrong, just the 20% less MPG suggestion for LPG is a bit optimistic.

If you get the conversion right the engine lasts for ever \:\) Mine's on 173,000.

I was lucky and it was already converted when I bought it. The guy I bought it from was an LPG installer but the car was actually converted at the national school for LPG conversions as a demo car.

He also gave me the software so I can adjust the settings, but I haven't tried yet.

I also have a very heavy foot so my MPG on both petrol and LPG isn't great, but it costs me half the price to run on LPG.

As mentioned i understand mapping is quite an issue.

The need to regularly remap as well was once mentioned to me.
