i've got a mechanic friend who is installing my evo chip, 3 bar fuel pressure regulator, and spark plugs this weekend.

he is fine with the fpr and plugs but just wants a bit more info on installing the chip.

has anybody got any detailed fitting instructions?

disconnect the earth to the batter

remove the plastic cover over the ECU in the passenger footwell

undo the 2 bolts holding the ecu and pull it down

disconnect the wiring loom connector

open ECU with philips screwdriver

pull chip out, replace and re-fit

One extra step, before fitting the chip or doing anything, they recommend to unplug (electrical plug) the EBV (the little cylinder on the end of the raditor with the 3 boost hoses going into it) and do a run in 3rd gear with a boost gauge connected. Should get a max reading of .45bar i'm told. Basically you are disconnecting the overboost.

Check with Paulhino as I may be slightly out on the boost but from memory its .45bar

If it over .45 bar once you put the chip in you could be running too much boost

Also get it RRd after the install to check the mixtures

Cheers

I had my base boost (wastegate setting) set at 0.5bar and the car overboosts to 1.50 max (Evocars in their site says 1.45 max boost)
I think that a little more doesn´t do any harm.

Thats 22psi

Must be strong motors these fiats to handle that sort of boost.

With the same compression i reckon the engine could take 2bar with the correct pistons and rods

Still - on standard rods and pistons that is a fair bit of boost, My old Uno turbo ran 18psi with a big turbo and those motors are meant to be bullet proof, Just surprised at 22psi I guess.
