so guys.... in reality, what would happen if one was to put one of these bonnets on their car, and then was to have an accident / or take it in for an MOT?


Would the car actaully fail the mot, and would it be enough for the insurance not to pay out (or for the car to not be allowed on the road after an accident and getting it done up using one of these?)

There isn't actually that much strength in the metal bonnet Mike, I had a very slight ding (and we're talking less than 4mph) in my old blue coupe, the bonnet folded in at the front and out at the side and also popped out of the bonnet latch at any half decent speed it would be no use at all.

The car can't fail an MOT for a glassfibre bonnet providing it doesn't have any sharp edges.

see jimbo, logically that makes total sense, however since when did insurance companies use logic.... if there is a get out clause, if the potential claim is big enough i wonder if they wouldnt use it any way.

Apart from the weight, not much, other than fiat no longer make the make the metal ones.

So we now have another option other than to have to rely on someone breaking a car to get a spare one.
