All you N.Wales coopsters best keep your eyes peeled. Chief Constable Brunstrom's up to his old tricks again - this time with an undercover horse box.

Look Out

Personally I think its a terrible thing to be using this sort of tactic. . . . . . . . . especially since I'm normally way too busy looking down at the road surface trying to avoid all those potholes, to even think about keeping a look out for cameras or pedestrians laugh

This focus on speed by the police does have some positives though.

If you’re an uninsured driver, a drink driver, a tailgater, a joy rider, an unlicensed driver, or an MOT dodger then surely there’s never been a better time to take to the road. After all, the likelihood of being stopped by a real policeman seems to be declining just as quickly as those hidden cameras seem to be breeding laugh

Only at the Xmas party!

Anyway, I would think you've got a good chance of sucessfully contesting any ticket from a disguised camera

It is hard to understand how a cemetery can raise burial rates and blame it on the cost of living

Nope, sorry. All the "guidelines" are just that, "guidelines" they aren't law. It's also the case if the van is parked illegally, two wrongs don't make a right in the eyes of the law. Speeding is an absolute offence, either you were speeding or you weren't* frown

*doesn't mean that you can't contest it though.

I was going to post this as "N. Wales Police Are Officialy a Horse's Ass!" but beaten to it.

I made a point of watching the report on Wales Today last night & this is surely one of the most underhanded ways to get money out of tourists/motorists in the area. VERY sneaky set-up - but the spokesman said that it was all above board & legal to do this as long as there were speed limit signs posted on the road! OK, we should stick to the speed limts - agreed, but this debate about money laundering/easy targets/bad relationshiops with the NWP continues to rage. Last week's story in the local paper was that there is a fleet of about 50 unmarked cars in the region as well!! You'd have thought that there was an autobahn here as opposed to an overcrowded dual carriageway. rolleyes

Welcome to Helmand province for the "Traffic Taliban" .... my Road Angel is locked & loaded at all times! evil

Oh yes - there's unmarked cars as well. As I was driving back from Llandudno on Sunday night I passed some poor sod in another car who'd been pulled over on the A55 by an unmarked police car.

It was a white Volvo S70 Allroad (estate) with no police markings and lights built into the bumpers. Best keep a good lookout before putting your foot down on the A55.

On the way into N.Wales on Friday night I was keeping to the 50 limit for once when passing Deeside, when I passed an Arrive Alive van hidden by a bend on one of the verges. Close call - but I'm sure he caught a lot of people that night.
