Wheels and wobbly bolts #57936

Here is my inexperience when it comes to the Fiat Coupe 20vt.

I have been looking at various wheels which I thought would fit my car. Making sure that the pcd is 98 and offset of 35 -40.
Rang up a few places to ask which wheels they do for the Fiat and they said very few because of the calipers. Now I assumed that the offset would allow for that but apparantly it depends on the casting of the wheel.

They also suggested not to buy online and goto a place where they can be fitted and checked.

Also they mentioned that they don`t do many with the 98 pcd
so they suggested 100 pcd wheels with wobbly bolts

Now I`m sure I read somewhere that wobbly bolts are dangerous.

Advice, correction and info with pics of any wheels that would fit would be most appreciated to a novice owner

Had similar responses when I was looking a month back or so and decided for the hassle just gonna put new tyres on my standard rims and refurb them in Peugeot Cossack Grey.
In my mind it will be like having new wheels as they are a different colour!!!!!!

I think the wobbly bolt issue is not neccessarily a dangerous one, just that given the weight and performance of the car it's not advisable. That said, there are plenty of members on here who have wobbly bolts, (with PCD 4x100) who have had no problems at all.

For me, I just wanted perfect fit wheels. To my mind, I couldn't justify buying bigger (expensive) wheels if they didn't just simply bolt on, but instead needed spacers/wobbly bolts, etc.

There are still a few manufacturers who produce wheels with PCD 4x98. AZEV, Anterra, Dare, spring to mind. But I'm sure there are more.

The other issue, having sourced wheels which have the correct PCD is whether they will clear the large Brembo brake calipers, and this I'm afraid, is going to be down to physically trying some wheels out, particularly if you want something different from others on here.

Hope this is of some help.

Compomotive to add to the list with 4 x 98pcd and clears the calipers with no spacers.

As for wobble bolts, used them for 3 years, done a couple of track days and not had any problems, make of that as you will

I would take their advice. Trust me I was told my AWS Racing alloys would fit with a ET of 35. However when they came they needed a spacer. The only way to see if they fit is to get the wheels offered up to the hub. Ive used wobbly bolts before and not had any problems with them.

I would not use wobbly bolts and spacers on my wheels if you paid me!

i cant think of anything more doggy or dangerous...
my car was fitted with 17's by the previouse owner... they have a 100pcd and require a 5-10mm spacer to fit...

in the 6-7 months i have had the car i had a wheel come off twice because you simply cant get bolts long enough to hold the wheels on... would MASSIVLY advise against it!

i have just bought Std wheels off ebay which i have had refurrbed in anthracite... and i cant wait to fit them ( on saturday!! )

Danny it sounds like you have had a bad time with your wheels, but your going to cause some major Coupe Paranoia out there . There are loads of club/forum members that use either wobbly bolts or spacers with out any problems. It is generally agreed however that its not a good idea to use the two together.
