compressor housing. My turbo makes an extra 15 odd BHP through a special ported compressor housing

in this example this turbo has been adapted to have a 4" shroud and if you look near the turbo wheel there are two cut out ports - this moves the efficiency island around and it is possible with the combination of a modified shroud and porting to stretch the whole efficiency of the turbo so it will spool up at the same time or earlier and make more power. The one on my turbo does both - probably improves spoolup by a good 2-300rpm and gives more at the top end. Worth the money in my book.

I'm sure Turbo dynamics can do it, mine is from Owen Developments who have done a lot of testing the larger compressor housings to improve the flow of them.

here is the HKS equivalent of the GT2871R - this has a ported shroud on the 0.50A/R T04E compressor housing.

So now you know an easy way to get more power out of your turbo is anyone actually going to do it? smile

sorry to get on my soapbox, but some of us on this forum have gone out and tried things we didn't know would work and put our money where our mouth was or found our own answer when no one else had one. I accept that everyone doesn't have to be like that but sometimes there's a bit too much following the herd rather than doing what you want to do because you believe it will end out with a better outcome.
Because I'm suggesting something that no one has done on here does it mean that it won't work and I'm in cloud cuckoo land? Or does it mean actually john usually knows his stuff, so I have an opportunity to do something different here which will enable me to make a bit more out of all the other plethora of modifications I have.

kebab for thought anyway.

nope,as my turbo is still brand new, and not on the car,I will get on the phone to Turbo Dynamics (form whence it came) and hopefully they will be able to do something about it.
At the moment I do not have the time to spend, developing or thinking about the coupe as much as I did (I was the 1st too install a a 6 speed box in a 5 speed car, developed the short shift with EVO,etc etc smile ),so I REALLY appreciate it when someone who knows what they are talking about posts up `new` tuning tips..................thanks John

John the porting you mention is something I did on my GT turbo 18 months ago.And yes it does work although I modded mine different to your picture. And people 99.99% of what John recomends will be beneficial to your set ups, John has pioneered many coupe tuning options and without him we all would collectively be along way behind in our personal quets for performance gains.
