Does anyone else have problems with the thick A pillars on their Coupe restricting visibility? I nearly knocked a geezer off his bike earlier on a rounabout as I didn't see him as the A pillar was in the way. For me this is one of the coupes biggest faults. I am not a shorty by the way I am 6 foot..

The coupe is nothing like as bad as most modern cars in this respect though.

I tend to just put the window down and do some comedy half-lean out.
Though may i be the first to suggest cutting the offending bit of pillar out and replacing it with something that isnt opaque...

I just lean forward slightly, so I can see the spot where the pillar was obstructing before, I dont see the issue here

Fine as long as you always remember to look round the pillar.

Turns out not to the case, Eldino - if you're at a T junction, an oncoming vehicle is actually obscured for several seconds. It's ok on the move - as you say, you need to know what's around you (took me months to teach daughter that she needs to know what the *gaps* are doing, not the other cars) - but stationary it can give the impression that all is clear when it's not.
Hence the mongoose dance. yep sorry thought we were talking about on the move must read post properly. like other people have said though, there are much worse cars.

Gravitational lensing. The A pillar is in fact SO thick its gravity distorts the light coming past it. In this way, you can use the faint light echoes this creates to see round the pillar. Easy.
Oh, is it time for my pills? Thanks.

I've evolved a kind of mongoose-hypnotising-a-cobra movement that lets me see around it He-he, I thought it was just me that did that

Try an Uno! A pillars are as tiny. Then again, the Uno has the same protection as driving a crisp packet in an accident. The Bravo's A pillars are thick, and find they get in the way sometimes. The Coupes arent too bad for me, but I'm a bit of a short-arse, (blame the Italian family tree for that).

The coupe is nothing like as bad as most modern cars in this respect though. Another thing with modern cars is the are bringing the indicators further and further into the middle of the car rather than the outer edge. Why do they do this? It's a lot easier to see on the edge! I sometimes get bothered by the a pillars but it's not really that bad. Don't all coupé shaped cars have this problem?

On the subject if indicators,Some cars such s VW Golfs have indicators inside the front lights, and inside the brake lights at the rear. So when the headlights or brake lights are showing you cannot see them. What a great design..

Yay for left hand drive! Although it can be tricky to see traffic lights when you are stopped sometimes....
