It's a cracking car, but a tad pricey.

I reckon if he advertised it for £6500 it would get snapped up quick!

The price should be at least double that and its not even a popular colour like Vinci !!

Looks nice apart from the spoiler and wheels.

Yeah the spoiler and the wheels make it look like a dogs dinner. What sort of sicko replaces LE wheels with those horrors. If that was not a low mileage LE (and there's no gaurantee on the milage) we would be lining up to say how naff it looks, hang on we are!

The Fiat dealer wanted £10k for it last summer - must have disposed of it through the trade in the end.

I was looking for an LE at the time, and was interested in this car, except for the wheels, the spoiler, and the price. For that price the car for me should have been totally standard - IMHO if you're buying an LE, it should be as if straight from the factory - so I would have to have budgeted for the spoiler removal and repaint, and new wheels.

I eventually bought no. 1162 - 2nd batch (the ones that caused the fuss with the original 200 UK owners) so this would be a contemporary - it will be interesting to watch its progress - the Clarkson effect indeed!

JimO, you have a fair point. I think that chances are everyone has the same overall perspective on this but that people say what they think rather than also including why they think it - and this leads to what appear to be opposing views.

Clearly a low miler is worth more than a high miler (all other things - such as day to day care - being equal). My view is that one of the best/the only way to tell for a non-mechanic is by looking at the paperwork. We have all seen cars that have had claims made that are simply not backed up by the paperwork. Whilst that does not make the claims untrue it does make them harder to verify.

So, personally, my starting point is that if someone wants to sell me a 10 year old car that's done 30k miles I'll assume that claim is unlikely to be true (and I wouldn't be handing over the c.50% price premium in reliance of that claim) until I've seen the paperwork to prove it.

My conservative approach may lead to me missing some nice cars during my time, but in my view if someone has a mint, low mileage car and doesn't keep their receipts then they are throwing their money away as there are a lot of cynics like me around.

Now, this 32k LE might be the mint low mileage example it appears to be and if it turns out that way that's great, and I might even say worth the money (bar the colour the wheels and the spoiler).

If it was me selling it (and wanting to maximise the chances of me realising the extra £3k in condition that the mileage claim is suggestive of) I'd have a link to big high res page showing my masses of service history and receipts rather than focussing my Momo GTRs spolier and recirculating dump valve.

What would puzzle me about that car is on the face of it you have a mint very low mileage LE. Now in my book cars like that are not normally owned by people (usually one maybe two previous owners)who are likely to add spoilers extra BHP wheels and SS exhausts. With that sort of mileage I would have thought the original exhaust would still have been fine 9 times out of 10. Owners of cars like that tend to keep them original and if they do mess with the styling(and the styling is a mess in this example) tend to be sympathetic to the design and keep the original items. I have my doubts that its all it says it is. The price is stupid even if it was completely original with one owner from new IMO. But then I couldn't live with an LE interior

Strangely, low mileage tends to kill exhausts far quicker than high miles \:\(

Short or stop/start journeys never allow the exhaust to get up to a decent temperature to burn off the condensation and water by-products of combustion so the exhaust ends up rotting quickly from the inside outwards \:\(

Doesn't explain why you'd stick different wheels on it though \:\?

If it's the car I'm thinking of, the Fiat MD guy put the spoiler on when it was new! I'd have to remove the alloys though, standard is the way forward!

I'm becoming a purist \:D

Whatever

I just think sometimes it seems everyone has to doubt everyone else, why this is I don't know, why everyone thinks that everyone else is out to get them and is lying to them I don't know. But it must make their life in general very difficult and tiresome, if they are forever judging people and taking a defensive position. But hey, not picking on you, if you want to take the stance that everyone is telling lies, then its your life, not mine.

FWIW I am off to the pub for lunch and I will be eating some steak, probably an 8oz filet, I have packed my set of sclaes to weigh it and also my have my illustrated book of cooked meats to make sure they aren't trying to offload some rump on to me too.....

Are you going to give them a few grand for a glass of tap water while you are down there?

Exactly the same point i was going to make.

If your steak was double the usual price for that kind of steak, you would be checking why and wouldnt just pay it.

For me the wheels and the bootlid spoiler de value the car. I would want to knock the price down to take into account putting it back as standard.

Also a low mileage town car is likely to be more worn out than one thats done twice the mileage on a motorway, due to the number of cold starts it has done.

Plus if you use the car and rack the miles up you will suffer more depreciation than if you bought a higher mileage car in the first place.

I bet its still on its original cambelt, clutch, wishbones, brake disc etc as well.. So that lot will need changing before too long.

I think it's a case of buyer beware. And with an asking price of £8000 on a modified (to its detriment)car it's a good place to start.

Yes but if I was buying the best steak I could buy (or a low mileage LE) then I would expect it to be more expensive, so I don't get that point at all!!

Also, what the heck has anything got to do with the price of anything, my point is (or now was as I am bored of it) why does everyone have to say that the mileage should be considered dodgy just because its x thousand and there are no photos. The ad states FSH, the ad states 32,000 miles, and someone states there's no guarantee on the mileage, why say that! I am assuming that he hasn't been to see the car, I am assuming that he hasn't HPI'd the car, I am assumign he has no prior knowledge of this car at all, so why state it is unlikely to be true!!!!!

You now get my point or do you wnat that glass of water

Yes Beklfastjohn, buyer beware, but not buyer state the mileage is false!!!

Yeah but if that steak could be had from 2 suppliers, one more expensive and one stating it was because this cow had been massaged ( ;\) ) u would want to be sure it was true before just paying the money for it. Otherwise u may be better with the same steak, for less money.

I doubt anyone on this thread, is actually a "buyer" ;\)
