Hi,

I have the "Jap" fuel pump wiring mod and I've run the power cable up the passenger side. I am fitting my old amp, which is to be plumbed into the standard rears and I've run the phonos down the drivers side.

What I'd like to know is will there be any problems running the much thicker amp power cable next to the power cable for the fuel pump?

Has anybody else run the fuel pump wire and an amp wire up the same side of the car?

Any help appreciated, as I can live without the amp if it'll interfere?

Cheers,

Gunzi

Thanks Samsite999.

I think I may just be (coupe) paranoid!

no problem, just dont snag the wire on the cars body or your gound the amp wire "12v +" and blow a fuse from the start of the amp wire, at the battery "12v +" end.

if you havent fused it from source yet- do it, if the wire grounds it will go like a electric wire heater and set fire to the car.

OK I would not recommend anyone try this. Today I finally got round to pluging the above into the battery. The wires lay next to each other from the battery to the boot.

I immediately had a problem with the fuel pump. I could hear it whining and the pitch changed with the revs. Even when I stopped the car and removed the keys I could hear the fuel pump "winding down". I hadn't plugged the speakers yet.

I unplugged the amp wire from the battery end, went for a drive and had the same whining from the pump. Then I removed the amp wiring completely and the fuel pump noise stopped.

So I will now run the amp power cable down through the other magic grommet and down the centre of the car!

I have no doubts that the two wires were interfering with each other. If I had speakers plugged in maybe I would have had an audio confirmation of this.

fwiw,

I'm running the fuel pump via a 40amp relay from the thick wire that feeds the rear amp
I know it's not ideal, but it works \:D
I do have some rev related whining from the speakers but I did have that before the fuel wiring mod as well...
