Help with Lowered springs #621153

Hi, my 20vt has got PI lowered springs that a previous owner must of brought (wouldnt be my choice) I think they are 30mm ones. I feel like it sits up slightly higher at the front compared to the back.

My question is, is there any way that i could get some springs just for the front that lower that by 35-40mm to make it have an equal look, or is there any other springs that lower it more, i dont want it over the top because i can struggle over some speed bumps at the mo, but thats the ones that are built the size of houses \:D

But then my worry would be that they brought the springs but im still on standard shocks. Would i just be better going for adjustable coilovers??

Do they drop more than 30mm, and could i drop the front to make the car look equal, i.e. 35-40mm front 30mm back. Im not being silly and wanting a dragster style car, or anything like that \:D

Any suggestions welcome
Thank you

Post a pic of your Coop side on so we can see how low the back looks in relation to the front.

Lowered springs and standard shocks is a really bad idea. PI aren't good springs in any case, and you'd probably be best to ditch them for some Eibachs.

I didnt like the idea of standard shocks with lowered springs either, but only realised they were PI lowered springs when i done my top mounts, i just thought the ride height of my car was standard at first. I was going to get the eibach bilsteins combo, but that is just a 30mm drop and may end up looking the same. Thats why i was wondering about coilovers.

I am at work at the moment (until tomorrow) but i will try in a little bit to get past the internet blocker \:D and go into my photobucket and post a side on pic of my car.

Im not sure if what im seeing is just the way the coupe sits, but to me if feels and looks like its a tiny bit higher at the front. Not sure if you tell slightly from my signature picture.

From memory on 20vt Eibach springs, you should be just be able to get two fingers widths in the gap between the wheel and the arch at the front.

You really don't want to go any lower, for one the front wheel geometry goes pear shaped and secondly you won't clear the smallest speed bumps.

Here's my old Coop side on (now owned by Hyperlink) with the Eibach/ Billie combo for reference.

When i look at that it looks equal, mine to me looks a tiny bit lower at the rear than the front. This link ive added doesnt show what i mean fully i dont feel, this is the best one i can find from the pics ive taken (side views that is) You will probably look now and think im mad \:D he he he, and i probably am being mad, but i have felt it in the car also, its like being in a plane taking off \:D ha ha ha ha ha (not that bad)

(edited) i just found this one which is a better side on view, but i still think its not as equal as the picture you just showed of your old car. The rear end is deeper into the arch but the front isnt.

This doesn't look right. Rear looks lowered OK but the front looks to be at standard ride height.

I'd say get some decent springs and shocks , it will solve the problem.
Eibach springs are definitely lower than that at the front. The 'drop' that get's quoted on springs is fairly arbitary, doesnt really much as most will drop more on the rear than the front for example.

I agree with Cosmo, that doesn't look right.

The group buy price on Bilstein B6s is still available I think - just had them put on mine (with the standard springs) and it's a real improvement in ride and composure. As you say, the Bilstein/Eibach combo is a "classic" and proven handling mod.

Im glad you agree, i thought it was going to be me going mad \:D I will have to save up a bit then and ditch the PI springs (why someone chose PI to fit on it i dont know, but each to there own) I was going to get the eibach/bilstein combo a while ago but then Jimbo said about the design of some coilovers so i thought id wait, but seeing and feeling the ride height on my car everyday its pi**ing me off now.

Could just try and pick up some standard springs (perhaps give one of the specialists a call or ask around on here for some second hand ones) as a stop gap - that'll give you a higher ride height all round obviously, but at least the correct front/rear height relative to each other \:\)

I was thinking that, or try and get some eibach lowered springs and fit them to standard shocks, do they come as a set of 4 or are they seperate Front, Back.
