Hi guys, my names exgtt and i plan on a 20v turbo purchase pretty soon (infact i have already bought various bit and bobs off ebay in preparation!)

I currently drive an Alfa 156 V6 - but i need more power and better MPG hence me looking at Coupes..

Just thought i'd warn you all of an aledgedly "mint" coupe on the trader (click the link its the 3rd one down @ £2994 - dark red.)

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/advert+search/N-0,Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236/search.action?&keywords=20v+turbo&postcode=LS14+1AP&radius=1500&showMoreOptions=&page=7

After taking some time off work (get paid by the hour) and juicing up the V6, the ad sounded promicing.

Upon arrival it was worn to say the least. Scratches and dints on every panel (including boot) brake disks knackered, back bumper scuffed on both sides, wheels badly kerbed (all the way up the spoke on some) front and back number plates had different gararge ads on. Just generally not the minter it made out. I didn't even ask for the keys.

Ok if it was priced accordingly and not bigged up so much in the ad - then fair do's but just look at the add and tell me your not tempted!

Anyways hello! i'm not the miserable git i come across so far just don't want any others wasting their time!

Welcome to the forum smile

Take a look through the cars for sale section. Can't speak for all of them, but the general standard is higher.

I would especially point you towards the one currently being sold by 'Iceberg' - same price as the one you looked at, but I'd bet my bottom dollar its a better Coupe.

Welcome - I cannot believe Paul's coupe is still for sale - go buy asap!

Probably one of the safest coupe purchases you could make - I, and many others, use Iceberg/Paul/Motormech for their servicing...

Really not keen on the bright blue colour - shame it's had all the work done! Same re the green one.

Would really like dark red - black or silver.

When i get one i'll get some pics up.

Been reading the forums and tuning them properly isn't cheap. On the wish list is FMIC, proper mapping, cat bypass and rebuilt turbo to suit.

A good £1500 for the work i reakon. Any recommendations to who can rebuild the turbo to handle a cat bypass?

Cheers!

Indeed - just buy Akeme's Coupe instead. All done properly and specialist maintained.

I went to see that "excellent condition coup" in Tockwith. Thats is the worst condition coupe I have ever seen.

I mean decat, appologies.

Having read through the forums is seems the standard turbo isn't suitable with a decat? The standard turbo needs a bit of back pressure to seal properly?

welcome...i rushed into buying a coop and got lucky...make sure you pick one up with all the right history / receipts or a forum car with known background...like u found out theres plenty of ropey ones about and not all with shabby bodywork to give them away

The above is absolutely perfect, though i need to get rid of my crosser & a few other bits and pieces to fund it.

Have emailed the seller for some more pics etc..

Fingers crossed i can raise the funds in time, i doubt it will be around for long!

I would buy Highwayman's car if I were looking for a coupé.
Its got forged pistons and has been rebuilt but a specialist.

Buy a car with a standard engine running a GT28RS and you'll have to put better internals in it sooner or later. Ask Squid and Eldinho.
