Here you go.FMIC water spray kit. This is on my 147 turbo and it can be activated by the boost settings or the engine temp itself. Its plumbed into the washer tank and then its wired to a controller thats in turn linked to the Omex engine management. It works same as the Scoobie and Evo water spray systems that come as standard on these cars.Sorry about the poor pic quality,I have a crap digi cam.

Do a search for my car and my threads and posts.Lots of pics, specs and info on it.Complete one off race spec build with loads of Computers/ECU,s to run engine, boost, water spray and launch/traction control systems.
Currently its a 1.6 litre turboed engine that makes 280bhp at 12 psi boost and 300bhp at 1 bar boost on 95 octane pump fuel.

Im in the process of building a new 2 litre Alfa engine that will be 400-450bhp for trackdays and dragging.Anyway do a search and you will find out more.

P.S-Heres a few pics from another thread.

You can get all the parts you need from your local garden centre, you will need some small irigation misters, some tubing , a T piece and some cable ties and just plumb it into your rear washer line and disconnect the actual rear washer if not it makes a mess on the rear screen every time you use it ( i dont use the rear washer any way do you?) all together i think it cost me £12 for the lot and fitted it myself, mine took alittle longer as i use a pace side mount.

Hi Paddy,

Thanks for the pics.

Can you explain how this things works ? I understand that
the injection system that you have on sprays water mist
onto the fins of the IC itself.

Whereas there are other systems that spray water mist
into the IC itself (to prevent pre-detonation).

Your's sprays water onto the fins , yes?

Is it useful in reducing intake/engine temps ?

thanks.

Depends on if you actually use any but you will find it can help bring the temps down more if you use the right stuff

Aquamist water injection system is expensive and sprays water mist/vapour into the engine/intake chamber itself to prevent detonation and keep things nice and cool internaly. This is 500+ quid sterling to buy, install and map to suit the car, depending on the type of aquamist system and ECU that you opt for.

The Intercooler spray system costs about 80 quid and sprays 2 jets of water onto the core of the FMIC when engine intake temps get too high. This reduces the intake temp and thus gives a colder/denser air flow which results in a few bhp more and better throttle response and acceleration.A FMIC spray system is only really used whan you have been absolutely canning the car or hitting the limiter alot when driving. You dont need to use it for normal road driving.

All Scoobies and Evos come FMIC and TMIC spray systems as standard. These are activated manually by a spray button on the dash.My system works via a little computer which in turn is linked to the Omex engine management system.

I can activate this spray system manually by pressing a small button on the computer box itself or else when the ECU senses that engine intake temp is too high(mostly when the fan kicks in) then the water spray will activate and spray the intercooler for 10 seconds at a time.

This is really more of a modification for trackday or drag race cars where temps have to be kept low for maximum power. Not that usefull for a normal road car and normal road driving.Hope this helps.

You can get an aquamist system for about £289 this will run off a boost switch which you can set when it comes in say 10psi, but this isnt the best way to do it as in the winter or cold weather you dont want methenol spraying in as it can do the opposite and make the car run bad, so i bought a little air charg temp display which you fit into the inlet close to the throttle body, but it also has a relay on it to control the the pump on the aquamist. The way it works is you set two settings a low thresh hold and a high thresh hold low being 38degrees and high being 42degrees so now the aquamist wont kick in until you are pushing 10psi and 42 degrees, this system works fantastic on mine and i have great figure to show for it. The ACT gauge and relay system cost about £65 and you can fit the whole lot your self including the aquamist. This will then help if you are runnig high boost and Gtech2 chip or something similar.

Yes, I made up a kit, as did Nigel and Kingpleb. Proven to reduce the temps at a quicker rate on a RR.

I made a small vid here - http://www.aqualifeleasing.co.uk/images/IC%20spray.mpg

I too have done this works well and makes a noticable difference in power when it is hot in the summer just make sure you find an anti syphon block from some other cars headlight washer system otherwise it drains all your water out the bottle in one go.

ps i havent missed not being able to wash my rear windows for over a year

Has anybody tried the DIY method, and used a push switch under the accelorator pedal? So as when you put your foot down the spray is activated? What other ways are there to activate it? apart from a manual switch?

You could do loads given some time and money like boost activation or temp activation. its just wiring it up and the car is already wired by an italian so i wouldnt want to push it too far

thats what i was thinking, don't want to bugger it up.

Might try a pressure sensitive switch like you have to light up the boot light. Shouldn't be do difficult to do.

What can i use to stop the water syphoning out of the washer bottle? Is there a valve i can but, or do i need to go to a scrap yard and find a car with a headlamp washer system?

get top the scrappy and find a car that has washing headlights. I got mine from a punto i belive but lots oft hem have this valve. Just follow the pipe back fromt he headlamp to the washers and at some point their will be a little plastic doohicky that is the anti syphon valve. Some cars have this built into the pump so you may need to check a few before you find one. scrappy charged me 25p for mine as i decided not to just stick it in my pocket.
