hi, just fitted a gtec 1 chip, car is totally standard, took it out for a drive and it doesnt feel any faster, does the gtec take time to bed in or should i notice a big difference straight away, the chip that was in it originally didnt have any markings on it, had a yellow sticky bit of paper on it with the numbers 357896 on it and a small pen mark, any ideas anyone

Have you got a boost gauge? If so is the boost reading any higher?

You may have a problem with a stuck closed EBV which is leaving you on base boost. If you haven't got a gauge you might not know about it apart from the car being slower.

The chip you had with the sticker and printed number will be the standard fiat/bosch chip. It's quite common for them to be labelled in that way.

You should defintely notice an immediate difference, especially in 2nd gear where you'll be getting around 50% more boost.

Without having a boost gauge to see exactly what it was doing before and after fitting the new chip it's hard to say what the problem could be.

First thing to check would be the throttle cable, maybe it's loose and so you're not getting full throttle/full boost in any gear... with engine off get someone to floor the throttle and then check under the bonnet for any play in the cable, if there is then tighten it up.

hi, just checked the throttle cable, it seems to be tight, its seems to be pull ok cleanly through the rev range and i cleaned the ebv a couple of months ago, going to a rolling road day in aberdeen in a couple of weeks time, just wonder if its worth getting a uprated ebv see if that makes any difference

As above, boost gauge, and either an uprated EBV... or a PRV if you dont mind the added risk and want the ultimate spool up \:\)

think i will def have to get a boost gauge and an uprated ebv, heard the gm one's are good ones, going to stick with a ebv for safety's sake, getting the car rolling roaded in a couple of weeks so hopefully any probs will show up then
